Ballet 180: Where Technical Excellence Meets Community and Kindness
Ballet 180's new Paoli studio masterfully blends rigorous technical training with a nurturing approach that builds confidence in dancers of all ages.

In a world where children’s activities often push either intense competition or purely recreational fun, Ballet 180 has created something special: a dance studio that delivers professional-level technical training within a uniquely positive, community-focused environment. Now in their beautiful new Paoli location, they’re transforming how Main Line families experience dance education.
The Perfect Balance: Technical Excellence in a Nurturing Environment
Ballet 180 occupies the sweet spot in dance education that many parents are searching for. Unlike highly competitive programs that can create pressure, or purely recreational studios that might lack technical foundation, Ballet 180 delivers serious dance training while maintaining a supportive atmosphere where children genuinely thrive.
“We’re trying to blend strong technique with a positive environment,” explains founder and director Kelly Farrell. “It can be challenging to find that middle ground of top-quality training while still maintaining a welcoming, nurturing approach. That balance is at the heart of everything we do.”
Their philosophy is built on three core tenets prominently displayed throughout their studio: Community, Kindness, and Artistry. These values inform every class, from the youngest dancers to advanced performers.

Ballet 180 was named the Main Line Parent 2025 LOVE Award Winner – Best Dance Studio, thanks to nominations from local parents in our Community who love and trust them:

“Their philosophy to empower kids to be kind yet strong and powerful through ballet and dance as a work of art is extremely impressive! The owner Kelly Farrell is an amazing young woman. Every time I see her I feel calm and energized at the same time! Our daughter is hyper active and loves ballet and contemporary dance forms. She says it helps calm her nerves.”

Building Confidence Beyond Dance

What sets Ballet 180 apart isn’t just what they teach, but how those lessons extend beyond dance technique. Parents consistently share how the studio has transformed their children’s lives in unexpected ways.
“The main feedback we hear is about confidence,” Farrell notes. “I was a shy person myself, but dance was my way to express myself. We see that with our students too. Parents tell us that their child didn’t want to go into the room on their own at all, and now they just say, ‘Bye mom!’ and go into class thriving.”
This confidence-building journey progresses naturally through Ballet 180’s program: from entering the classroom independently to mastering new skills, learning combinations, and ultimately performing on stage. Each accomplishment builds self-assurance that extends well beyond the dance floor.
One parent shares: “My daughter has been dancing here since Kindergarten (now 6th grade)… This is her happy place – a place where she can explore her passion for dance and performance in a supportive, self-esteem building environment where body positivity and service to community are celebrated alongside skilled dance instruction.”
A Studio Designed for Dancer Development

Ballet 180’s brand new facility in Paoli reflects their thoughtful approach to dance education. After several moves over the years, they’ve created their dream space with four spacious dance rooms, including two specifically designed for their more advanced dancers with higher ceilings and ample room for technical progression.
“This vision has been years in the making,” Farrell explains. “I designed the layout myself as my passion project.”
The studio features professional dance floors installed by specialists, clear sightlines for parents to observe classes, dedicated changing areas for different age groups, and an open reception area where families are greeted immediately upon arrival. Every detail reinforces their commitment to creating a space where dancers at all levels can excel.
Located just off Route 30, the studio offers easy access, ample parking, and two convenient entrances, making drop-off and pick-up stress-free for busy parents.
Programs for Every Age and Interest

While “ballet” is in their name, Ballet 180 offers comprehensive dance education across multiple disciplines. Their programs include:
Early Childhood Program (Ages 2-5)
Perfect for young children discovering dance for the first time. These classes emphasize creative movement, coordination, and building comfort in the dance environment.
“With our youngest dancers, we focus on making that first separation from parents a positive experience,” Farrell says. “When parents see their child not only go in on their own but come out happy and excited, that’s when they know they’ve found the right place.”
Elementary Program (Ages 5-8)
Elementary dance classes are a prelude to formal dance instruction. Students will learn fundamental dance vocabulary and steps in a structured, but fun environment.
Pre-Professional Program (Ages 8-18)
Students develop strong foundations in ballet, contemporary, jazz, hip-hop, theater dance, and choreography through a balanced curriculum that emphasizes technique while encouraging artistic expression.
Summer Camps and Intensives
From themed dance camps for younger children to focused intensives for serious students, Ballet 180 keeps dancers moving year-round in programs designed to maintain progress while adding summer fun.
A Community That Becomes Family

Perhaps most telling about Ballet 180’s impact is the depth of community they’ve cultivated. Farrell shares a story about one family who embodies the Ballet 180 spirit: “Their whole family dances with us – mom, daughter, and son. They’ve been with us at every location over eleven years, and they volunteer to help at our performances. Their energy is contagious to other families.”
This sense of belonging extends to performance opportunities that connect students with the broader community. Ballet 180 regularly participates in local events, offers free classes at libraries, and creates performances that build bridges beyond the studio walls.
Another parent reflects: “Kelly and her team not only teach ballet and dance techniques, they focus on developing our kids’ characters by teaching kindness, gratitude, and self-awareness. They have such a positive effect on my daughter and her other classroom friends.”
