Making Spirits Bright: Dom Fixes Bikes’ Annual Holiday Drive

Dom Fixes Bikes, the Main Line's beloved bike shop that donated 121 new bikes to families last Christmas and aims to gift 200 more this year.

In a cozy shop on Lancaster Avenue in Malvern, fifteen-year-old Dominick “Dom” Pecora is proving that you’re never too young to make a difference. As the founder of Dom Fixes Bikes, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, Dom has transformed a passion for cycling into a movement that’s bringing joy to hundreds of families across Chester County and beyond.

Dom Fixes Bikes was naned Main Line Parent’s 2024 LOVE Award Winner for Best Bike Shop, thanks for nominations from local parents:

“As a kid, my bike gave me independence and the freedom to explore and learn. I love being able to play a small part in helping Dom give that opportunity to a whole other generation. I have watched Dom help many people and I am inspired by his passion for biking, his knowledge of repairs and his ability to juggle school, rugby, a non-profit and a bike shop all with grace. Most adults cannot do that!”

A Vision That Started at Age 10

What began in 2020 as a ten-year-old’s dream to provide bikes to children in need has blossomed into an extraordinary community initiative. “I went to my mom after saving up money to buy brand new bikes for children and adults in need,” Dom recalls. That first year, they donated six bikes – all purchased with money from Dom fixing other peoples bikes and saving the proceeds. By 2023, with support from the Chester County FOP, police associations, local businesses, and community members, Dom Fixes Bikes donated an impressive 121 brand-new bikes to families throughout Chester County.

The 2024 Holiday Drive: Bigger and Brighter

This year, Dom has set his most ambitious goal yet: distributing 200 bikes across Chester, Montgomery, and Delaware counties. But he’s not stopping at bikes – each recipient will also receive a book of inspiration, cozy pajamas, and a safety helmet, creating complete holiday packages that bring both joy and practical value to families in need.

How You Can Help

The holiday bike drive kicks off in October with online donations at DomFixesBikes.com. Community support is crucial to reaching this year’s expanded goal. Whether through financial contributions, volunteer time, or spreading the word, every bit of support helps put more kids on bikes this holiday season.
