Kazi Noor Is Proof You Can Build a Legacy Before Sunrise

Kazi Noor built KC Insurance Brokerage on the belief that protecting a family is personal, not just financial. Now she's raising two kids, building three businesses with her husband, and giving back to her Muslim community in West Chester, all before most people's alarms go off.

Kazi Noor 2026 Main Line Parent Woman of Influence

Most mornings, Kazi Noor is up at 5:30 am and at the gym before her toddler wakes, and her five-month-old needs to be fed. She comes home, and her husband Jay has two cups of coffee ready. One for her and one for himself. Then the two of them spend an hour mapping out the day before either of them gets to work.

From there she moves through client calls, invoices, and a toddler who treats every video call like a personal stage, all while running KC Insurance Brokerage, a real estate investment company, and a construction business alongside Jay. Underneath all of it sits something she’s built her whole life around: the belief that showing up, especially when it’s hard, is the whole job.

Kazi Noor is a 2026 Main Line Parent Women of Influence Award Winner

Building the Brokerage

Kazi is the president and broker behind KC Insurance Brokerage, a women-owned firm based in West Chester. She has spent more than a decade helping families across Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware find life, health, auto, home, and business coverage that fits their lives.

She built the company around a simple frustration, that insurance is one of the most important financial decisions an individual makes and one of the least understood. “So many people are not educated about it,” she shares, describing the small business owners and new parents who come to her without basic coverage in place, unaware of what they stand to lose.

That gap became personal for one of her clients, a self-employed man facing a stage 3 cancer diagnosis with no employer coverage. He later wrote in a review how Kazi walked him through options he didn’t know existed. She found coverage that could support his treatment. And she helped him secure life insurance at a moment when he was thinking hard about his family’s future.

It’s the kind of relationship that Kazi says defines the work for her. “It’s never just, ‘Hey, I need this policy done,’” she says. “It’s, ‘Hey, Kazi, can I talk to you?’ They feel comfortable enough to come to me with the smallest thing, and I really appreciate that.”

Blindsided, in The Best Way

Kazi and Jay met in Brooklyn, where they were both born and raised. They didn’t even like each other at first. They became friends through a mutual circle, and in 2017 Jay came to her with an idea to buy a property together in Philadelphia. Kazi had applied to grad school at what was then Philadelphia University, now Jefferson, and moved to the city that same year. However, she was skeptical, still unsure why he was so set on it.

“Blindsided,” she says, laughing about it now. “I had no idea about the city or working here.” The two became business partners before they became a couple. Today, more than thirteen years after they first met, they run KC Insurance Brokerage together. Jay leads the field side of their construction company and Kazi handles the operational and financial backend across all three businesses.

The early years of that partnership weren’t easy. They took a $100,000 loss on one of their first real estate deals in 2018, not long after she’d moved to the city and started grad school. “It would have been so easy to just turn around and say we’re not doing this anymore,” she notes.

Instead, she went back to her day job, they rebuilt, and then began investing again. Today, the couple has built millions in assets across their businesses. “Just don’t give up,” she says. “Going right back in is what we built our assets on.”

What Legacy Actually Means

Kazi launched KC Insurance Brokerage in the middle of her third miscarriage, at a point she describes as one of the hardest of her life. She had spent years working in the financial industry and talking to clients about legacy and generational wealth, but becoming a mother gave them an entirely different meaning. When she finally held her son, something shifted. “This is what legacy means,” she shares. “I preach it so much, but feeling it is different. This is what you do everything for.”

Her daughter arrived earlier this year, and Kazi has been running the business with both a newborn and a toddler ever since, without a maternity leave to lean on. “I don’t get maternity leave,” she says. “It’s showing up every morning and answering client emails with my baby on my shoulder.”

She’s candid that the version of success she’s chasing right now has little to do with revenue. It’s the hour of coffee with Jay before the day starts, the small wins, a smile from her son, or a goal met. That’s what gets her through the exhaustion of new motherhood layered on top of running three companies.

Kazi also wants her children and her nieces, who she says are watching closely, to see what it looks like to build something of their own, especially as a woman building businesses in industries that have traditionally been dominated by men. She wants the girls in her family to know that women can be financially independent and create their own opportunities. They can build a life they’re proud of all while still being present for their family and showing up for their community. “Build yourself so strong that you don’t have to fall under a man’s feet,” she tells them. “You want to be financially stable and strong enough to get through any obstacle life throws at you.”

Planting Something For The Community

Kazi and Jay are active members of West Chester’s Muslim community. Through their construction and development company, JT Developers, they’ve spent the past year building a playground and basketball court for the community mosque that recently opened a new building. The project has been a labor of love, meant to give the community’s kids somewhere to play during weekend school and after Friday prayer.

During Ramadan, she and Jay personally contributed $2,500 to help feed families breaking their fast at the mosque. Additionally, they give toward families in need across Coatesville, Downingtown, and West Chester. “We owe it to them,” she says of the community that has supported their businesses for years. “It’s the least we could do.”

Advice For The Woman In The Trenches

Kazi’s advice to other women, especially those juggling motherhood with something they’re trying to build, comes from lived experience rather than theory. New entrepreneurs give up too fast, she says, often right before things turn around. Her own answer to that instinct has always been the same: go back in.

To the mom gazing at her newborn and a business she’s not sure how to keep afloat, her message is direct. “It’s not going to be all sunshine in the first month, maybe two or three,” she says. “But it’s going to make you so happy. It’s going to define you.”

What’s Next

With a toddler, a new baby, and three companies to run, Kazi isn’t slowing down anytime soon. She and Jay are continuing to grow KC Insurance Brokerage’s client education work, particularly around the coverage gaps she sees most often among small business owners and new parents.

On the JT Developers side, she’s looking forward to seeing the mosque playground and basketball court that is now completed, full of kids.

And through it all, Kazi says her biggest goal for the next five years has little to do with any one business. She wants to show other mothers that it is possible to build something of your own while still being present for the people you love. Motherhood does not mean losing yourself. Sometimes, it means becoming someone new, more refined, and more grounded in who you are. “If I could do it, you could do it,” she offers. “I’m just like you.”

Kazi keeps coming back to one line she tells herself on the hardest mornings. “Dreams are only goals with deadlines,” she says. “You can dream and dream, but that deadline is coming.”
