In fact, there are plenty of fun activities around the Main Line that are free, and we’re here to help you find them.

Free Activities Near the Main Line

There are so many opportunities for outdoor exploration and play, which are free to enjoy.

Lenape Park Public Disc Golf

4991 Skippack Pike, Collegeville

A recently renovated local park featuring a fun disc golf course, paved walking trails, a hilltop overlook, and easy creek access for kayak launches. Guests must bring their own disc.

Okehocking Preserve

5316 West Chester Pike, Newtown Square

This gorgeous nature preserve features rolling hills, a stream with small waterfalls, meadow trails, and historic buildings tucked throughout the grounds. It’s perfect for hiking, wildlife watching, and letting the dog roam.

Phoenixville MTB Skills Park

601 Franklin Avenue, Phoenixville

This free community mountain bike skills park has progressive lines for riders of all levels, from beginner-friendly features to challenging expert jumps.

Skunk Hollow Park

600 Darby Paoli Rd, Villanova

Skunk Hollow is a beautifully wooded park with wide paths to narrow winding routes along a creek. It’s fun for the little ones to explore and “chase fish” as one Main Line Community Member said.

Stoneleigh: A Natural Garden

1829 County Line Rd, Villanova

This free public garden on a historic estate offers meadows, woodlands, and meticulously maintained plantings with trees and flowers labeled throughout. It’s one of the area’s true hidden gems.

Low-Cost Fun Near the Main Line

Bowlero Limerick

653 W Ridge Pike, Limerick

Purchase a summer pass and enjoy 2 free games of bowling every day, along with a free shoe rental. The Premium Pass also includes a $5 arcade reload every visit, 15% off food and non-alcoholic beverages.

Collegeville Movie Tavern

140 Market St, Collegeville

From June 7 – August 13, 2026, families can enjoy a different movie each week for only $3 (+tax). They also offer a Kids Movie Magic Passport that includes tickets to all 10 titles in the series for just $15.

Colonial Pennsylvania Farmstead

3900 N Sandy Flash Dr, Newtown Square

Step back in time at this working 18th-century farm inside Ridley Creek State Park, where costumed educators demonstrate colonial-era cooking, blacksmithing, and farming. It’s open Saturdays and Sundays from March through November. Admission is $12 for adults, $8 for children 4–12, and free for children under 4.

Linvilla Fishing

Orchard Lake

Orchard Lake is stocked regularly with Trout and Catfish. If purchased online ahead of time, the cost is $11 per person for Fishing, $6 per person for a Pondside Pass, and $5 per person for a Rod Rental.

Regal Edgemont

4777 West Chester Pike, Newtown Square

As a part of Regal’s Summer Movie Express, families can see select movies for just $1 per ticket over summer. Movies are typically shown Monday through Thursday at 11am.

Frugal Fun Around the Main Line

From historic farmsteads and mountain biking to indoor movies and more, there is so much to enjoy around the Main Line without overspending. The Greater Main Line Area has frugal activities both indoors and outdoors for all ages and interests.

Pro-tip for frugal fun: don’t forget your local library! The Lower Merion, Chester County, and Delaware County libraries offer a bevy of free activities and programming for kids and families.
