About Elmwood Park Zoo
Elmwood Park Zoo in Norristown is well known as a destination for families with young children. Its smaller size and free parking give it a leg up on similar attractions. During Wild Lights the zoo extends its operating hours into the evenings, where guests can still see a small portion of the zoo’s animals while enjoying the sights and sounds of the holiday season.
Holiday Lights Show
Guests take their own self-guided tour through Wild Lights, which begins just inside the zoo’s main gate. There they’ll be greeted by a majestic 15 ft tall evergreen tree that’s adorned with unique ornaments and thousands of color-shifting lights. The path from there takes guests to locations like the Savanna Station Stroll, Candy Cane Lane, and the Tunnel of Surprise. The zoo’s Habitat HQ and Trail of the Jaguar enclosures will be open, with various animals on display inside, such as monkeys, owls, and jaguars.
Entertainment Options
Outside Bubby the Bison’s house, adults can enjoy a delicious spiked cider from Zoo Brew while kids roast s’mores. Live entertainment is scheduled for the Zoo Revue stage, where various performers will appear each night.
On weekends during Wild Lights, the zoo will be visited by everyone’s favorite frozen princesses. They’ll be on hand to greet guests and pose for photos in the Zoo Bowl Theater.
The zoo’s Discovery Center will be open (and warm) for drop-ins. There guests will encounter select animals from the zoo’s ambassador collection. There’s also dozens of animal artifacts to touch and explore, as well as engaging activities.
Photos with Santa
Santa’s Workshop will be bustling, but Saint Nick himself will be sure to make time for you and your family. Photo packages can be purchased onsite, or you can just as easily snap a pic with your phone.
Dog Nights
For the second consecutive year, the zoo is extending its “dog friendly” policy to select Wild Lights dates! That’s right, you can bring your favorite four-legged friend with you to enjoy all of the holiday fun.
