Looking for day-off camps on Martin Luther King Jr. Day? If your kids have off but you have work or an adults-only service project, there are lots of places offering one-day break camps to keep them busy.

HomeCooked

January 20, 10 am — 1 pm or 2 — 5 pm

Ages 6.5-11

HomeCooked is adding a service component to its regular school break camp. They will supply extra ingredients for everyone to use to make extra Shepherd’s Pies which will be donated to local families in need. Kids will also make a snack and a fun dessert to bring home!

Riverbend Environmental Education Center

January 20, 9 am — 3:30 pm

Ages 4-11

1950 Spring Mill Road, Gladwyne

 

Grounded in nature-based STEM education programs, children enjoy hikes, outdoor exploration, crafts, science experiments, and hands-on activities. The theme for January 20 is “Science in the Snow.”  Cost is $95/day with the option to add extended care.

The Handwork Studio

January 20, 9 am — 3 pm (morning and afternoon half days available)

Ages 5-12 for Fiber Arts Camp; 9-15 for Fashion & Machine Sewing Camp

Creative, project-based crafting is the name of the game at the Handwork Studio. Older kids can opt for a full day of fashion and machine sewing. Kids will leave with one or two completed projects from Fiber Arts Camp. Early care and aftercare are available at an additional cost. $99 for full-day Fiber Arts Camp (half-day options available); $109 for Fashion & Machine Sewing (full-day only).

Marple Sports Arena

January 20, 8 am–4:30 pm

Let your kids enjoy an active break from school with rock climbing, skating, sports play, arts and crafts, moonbounce, and more at this fun center. Lunch can be provided or kids can bring their own and aftercare is available for those parents that need extended time.

Kehler’s Gymnastics 

January 20, 10 am — 3 pm

Ages 3.5-13

680 Parkway Dr., Broomall

 

Kids will have a day of fun and games. They can play indoor mini golf, swing into the foam pit, climb the rock walls, play in the massive fun zone, and much more! Cost is $29.99 for the day.

Philadelphia Rock Gyms

January 20, 9 am — 3 pm (half day and extended care available)

Ages 4 and up (ages 6 and up for full day camp)

All PRG locations including Oaks and Coatesville

 

Kids can spend the day learning bouldering and top rope skills, while also strengthening their problem solving, communication, and teamwork. Kids will also do team-building exercises, arts and crafts, and even yoga to help with balance and body positioning. Choose from full day for $80 or half day til noon for $45. Extended care is also available for an additional $10 an hour. Philadelphia Rock Gyms have seasonal camps at all of their locations in the area, so check out their website for all the options.

Tumbling With JoJo

January 20

Ages 6-14
