Last summer, my daughter Claire really had no idea as to where she wanted to apply for college. She had certain set requirements in her mind-some of which as a parent I thought were not important when picking a college. That said, I knew we needed some help and guidance. We have fabulous college counselors at our high school, but they had not been able to read my inscrutable daughter and her personality. Enter Brooke-who we hired to help Claire put together a comprehensive list of schools for her to consider. Claire filled out a questionnaire and also spoke with Brooke to explain what she was looking for. Claire provided to Brooke her transcript, test scores and resume with her interests and activities. My one addition to the factors we needed to consider was that we were chasing merit. A week later Brooke produced a fantastic and very comprehensive list of schools all over the country and in Ireland with notes about how likely it would be for Claire to get in, and she also provided information regarding merit. That list became our map for moving forward and made our college search so much easier. And much, if not all, of what Brooke suggested was Claire’s reality when admission decisions came in. My daughter can be spicy, and Brooke guided her like the pro she is-Claire really enjoyed her experience with Brooke and I very much value the guidance and advice she gave us. I would retain Brooke again in a heartbeat.. Brooke made a very stressful search for the right match for my daughter a lot less stressful, and we are so grateful.

My daughter was referred to Brooke by a coworker, and she first contacted Brooke at the start of the summer before her senior year. Although we were a little late to engage a college counselor and start the college application process, Brooke was unfazed and she was very helpful in mapping out a plan to complete all of the applications that were due in the fall. Her experience with and knowledge of the college application process, both for private and in-state schools, was very helpful.

My daughter was motivated to finish her applications, but she still benefited from having Brooke set some dates and milestones leading up to the application submissions. We appreciated Brooke’s flexibility along the way, with a combination of set check-in times, draft reviews, and additional phone calls or email dialogue as needed. This structure worked well for my daughter.

Thank you, Brooke, for helping my daughter navigate the college application landscape, which seems daunting at first. She is very much looking forward to starting her college experience this fall.

Mission accomplished! With Brooke’s guidance, our son successfully submitted multiple college applications with varied requirements for each school. He was admitted to his first-choice university, with one of the top programs in the country for his major. Brooke’s organization, scheduling, and high expectations ensured that our son got through an undeniably stressful process with little parental angst and, more importantly, a sense of accomplishment.

Brooke is a college admissions expert operating at the highest level of her craft and she has been invaluable in helping us navigate the very fluid, complex and challenging world of college applications and admissions. Brooke creates a highly structured program to guide families and students through the college search. She helped my son stay on schedule with his essays and applications and went through the Common App line by line with him for each school to ensure it was 100% accurate. Her editorial assistance with his essays was invaluable and she is incredibly skilled at essay editing and essay topic selection advising. If you are looking for an expert who is organized, keeps things in perspective, and keeps everyone calm then Brooke is your choice. Incredible college outcome for my son — and now she’s working with our daughter!

Good gravy, Brooke is a genius and a teen-whisperer! We met her when my daughter was finishing 10th grade. and there was a lot of maturing during the next two years when she chose her college. Brooke was there every step of the way, with exactly the right approach for each stage of the college search and of a teenager’s journey from truculence to sloth to fierce engagement in the process. She knows her stuff!

Now, on the other side of the decision-making, what is most impressive about Brooke’s work is how she kept all my daughter’s options open. First, she helped her sift through and narrow things, but then she encouraged her to keep an open mind about different kinds of schools. When the acceptances started rolling in, they represented a range of schools, so that my kid wasn’t boxed in by what had seemed alluring 6 months or a year or two years before. Now, I am about to have a child in a wonderful small liberal arts college that she’d never heard of two years ago, is a perfect fit, and (luckily for me) is in a town with amazing barbecue. Really, what more could one ask for from a college counselor?
