What I admire most about this organization is their professionalism. They aren’t just teaching kids how to perform, they are teaching them how to perform WELL in a supportive and loving environment. The kids build on skills as they advance in age and much care is put in to making sure each child is participating equally–growing and developing at their own pace. My daughters (10 and 13) have both benefitted tremendously from the individual attention and instruction at WC Studios. But this year, more than any other, I have appreciated that professionalism because of COVID. Knowing the level of care, organization, and professionalism of Therese and her staff, I felt comfortable enrolling my child in summer camp and theater classes. I knew that they would strictly adhere to protocols and ensure the safety of the kids. This trust allows us to continue classes at a time when children are desperate for social interaction and need an outlet for creativity. I am so eternally grateful to WCStudios for finding a way to operate during this time.

My son started taking classes at WC Studio when he was 4 years old and it has always been a very positive experience. The teachers make it fun and encourage the students to use their own voice to interpret songs individually. The class environment is very welcoming and the teachers encourage students to take risks in a safe and non-judgmental space which allows the students to be confident and shine. My son is now 12 years old and he recently made his Broadway debut in the revival of Caroline, or Change. It was an incredible experience and he completely fit in with the cast because he was so well-trained and prepared to perform professionally on stage, thanks to WC Studio at Uptown! Therese Walden-Murphy is the best!

WCS at Uptown saved (and continues to preserve) my high school senior’s sanity during Covid. When other organizations shuttered or reduced offerings, WCS pivoted and actually INCREASED ways kids could become involved and creatively grow. The virtual options are rich, and the in-person instruction follows a stringent safety protocol to the letter. All of this is done without sacrificing teacher enthusiasm or student engagement. Therese in particular is unmatched in her ability to use her love and mastery of craft to inspire each child at his or her own level. During a generally bleak time, my daughter looks forward to and is able to find real joy in the silver lining that is West Chester Studio at Uptown!
