I’m in the beginning of this process with my kindergartener and felt totally lost. I knew I needed help, but had no idea where to start. Melissa and I had a warm and non-judgmental conversation about my struggles. She was able to identify how to reach my goals. I wanted my daughter to thrive in school and not just survive it. She immediately sent me an email that outlined my options and put it together in an orderly action plan. I would highly recommend her if you are feeling overwhelmed by the public school system.

I reached out to Melissa at a time when I really needed some guidance about the next steps for our family in terms of schooling. She was so easy to talk to and made the process of signing on with her really easy. I wouldn’t have been able to make our school switch without her. I highly recommend her to anyone looking for support!

Melissa is a great asset to the special education community! We are proud to have her as a trusted, educated, and balanced colleague in our field. Melissa is full of knowledge on special education rights and laws and our team is lucky enough to get to learn from and with her. I would highly recommend Melissa to the families we service!

Melissa is an absolute asset to our family and IEP teams for both of our children in middle and high school. She is so knowledgeable able to suggest things to the team that I wouldn’t have thought of as well as supporting our choices and really helping us to be heard in meetings. She helps me by stepping in when my emotions get the best of me, checking back in to make sure we are moving in the right direction. I don’t know how I would ever manage without her!

We began our journey of advocating for my son 10 years ago when he was in kindergarten. My son has ADHD, generalized anxiety disorder, social anxiety and major depressive disorder. It hasn’t been easy. Throughout those 10 years of IEP meetings and psychological evaluations, he was placed in Intensive Outpatient programs, various emotional support settings and at one point, not attending school at all. We have had many advocates over the years, but he didn’t get the out of district placement we have been aiming for until Melissa joined our team. Of all the advocates we’ve ever had, Melissa made me feel like our case was her priority. She is organized, efficient and reliable. If it weren’t for her advocacy, I truly believe my son would not be in the school that he is currently placed in, where he is thriving for the first time.
