Description
Spring 2024 update: Cupola Academy is now located at Diamond Rock Farm, 1701 Yellow Springs Road, Malvern!
Cupola Academy (CA) is a secular, nonprofit educational organization that provides a supportive community-base for homeschooling families. CA offers full-day programs for young people ages 4-18 to attend 2 to 3 days a week in a collaborative and resource-rich environment. CA nurtures the innate intellectual curiosity of young people in a pro-social atmosphere.
At Cupola Academy, they embrace the responsibility of making the world a better place by providing a nourishing environment for changemakers, with a focus on environmental stewardship. At the heart of CA's programs is the belief in natural curiosity, the value of collaboration, the importance of engaging in Real Work (vs. make work) and an emphasis on Process Consciousness.
Cupola Academy is designed for families who are seeking an intellectually rich atmosphere that promotes a growth mindset, encourages lifelong learning, and emphasizes social and environmental justice. These values are fostered in all of CA's programs.

We have been homeschooling for many years and have been parts of many homeschool programs and communities, so we have seen alot and Cupola does ALOT incredibly well. The high school years can be an especially challenging time for finding a community that meets your child’s academic and social needs, but Cupola is providing a wonderfully enriching space for our high school son where his unique learning style is welcomed, he is challenged academically and he has made friends. We’re very grateful to have Cupola as part of our homeschool journey.

This is our second year homeschooling and partnering with Cupola Academy. Our family has 2 young people ages 11 and 14 who attend Cupola Academy for their regular programming twice a week, as well as an additional half day- our oldest takes Marine Zoology and the youngest has been enjoying a plethora of shorter courses offered Wednesday mornings.
CA is a place our young people feel welcomed and accepted, and they are excited about learning and collaborating with peers. We would not have embarked upon this homeschool journey without the support of the amazing staff and community at Cupola and we are so grateful!

Our 9th grader is in her 3rd year at Cupola Academy and I couldn’t imagine her being educated a different way at this point. She has found a community of friends and teachers that she truly connects with and has been inspired in her studies. Each year, the facilitators and directors really support us in establishing her full curriculum for the year based on her needs and curiosities. Beyond studies, she is challenged to speak publicly, engage with adults and take low risk opportunities to step out of her comfort level which will go a long way as she grows into an adult. I could recommend this school and community any more.

Our daughters have attended Cupola for multiple years and have grown so much with the support they receive there. Having a secular homeschooling program that respects the needs and differences of the young people who attend has been so important for our family. We’re grateful to have Cupola as a huge part of our daughters education!

We have had an amazing experience at Cupola Academy. Because of this vibrant and supportive resource, we have been enabled us to enjoy the best of both worlds for our child’s education: membership in a supportive and nurturing learning community and the flexibility to pursue separate interests and open-ended exploration in homeschooling. If you are like the idea of homeschool but don’t want your child to miss out on the facilitation, social and community resources found in a traditional school setting, this is the place for you. This is our third year at CA and we have seen our child blossom and develop as a learner in such a beautiful way thanks to the inquisitive and thoughtful environment and inclusive community we have found here.

Our 8h grader attends Cupola’s CP 4 and Marine Biology programs. As a homeschooler, she really appreciates being able to spend her days at CA with other engaged and motivated peers. We also appreciate the large social network of peers that CA provides. Highlights this year have included chemistry and the much anticipated trip to Panama with her marine bio group.

This is our first year homeschooling, and I’m so grateful to have found Cupola Academy, where my two middle school-aged children attended 3 times per week. They have formed wonderful pier connections, and Julia and Mike have guided us every step of the way.
Cupola offers a supportive, collaborative space that nurtures curiosity and growth. The focus on fostering a sense of responsibility and real-world engagement has been a great fit for our family. The community is so welcoming—it’s been the perfect place to start this new chapter in our education journey.

This is our first year homeschooling our kids, and everyone at Cupola Academy has been amazing. Not only did they consult with us on completing our paperwork, but helped us choose curriculum that best fit each of our individual young people’s needs. Two days a week, our young people go to Cupola to receive facilitated learning. In a short amount of time, they have gotten to know my kids so well. They know their likes, dislikes, and specifically engage with them on areas they enjoy. For example, Mike Hilbert (founder and one of the facilitators) asked my child to stay after one day to help figure out a math problem as he knew they really enjoyed math. Cupola also coordinates community building activities for families, as well as field trips for additional learning. We’ve really enjoyed getting to know other families that attend Cupola. Lastly, they go above and beyond by providing free resources to the homeschool community, such as training events on how to develop a homeschool portfolio and a transcript for college. We are so grateful for Julia, Mike, and all of the Cupola Academy staff – we literally could not have gone down this journey without them.

My children flourish at Cupola Academy (CA) because of their thoughtful and meaningful approach to education. And it offers us the best of both worlds — two days a week they engage in pro-social, high-quality, collaborative educational activities at CA, and three days a week they have the flexibility to pursue interests and passions, take college classes as dual-enrolled high school students, and creatively meet their academic needs. We’ve been on this educational path for 8 years and couldn’t have done it without Mike and Julia and the entire CA family!
