Where to Hop on a Hayride for Bales of Fun This Fall!

Take a hayride at one of these farms in Delaware, Montgomery, Chester, and Lancaster counties for the ultimate fall feels

What better way is there to savor the fall season than rolling through the countryside on a tractor-pulled hay wagon? Maybe you’re headed out to the apple orchard or pumpkin patch, or maybe you’re sipping a cider and simply soaking up the colorful scenery.

Whatever the destination, hayrides are a fantastic activity for a crisp and sunny-blue, autumn day. So hop on a hayride at one of these farms in Delaware, Montgomery, Chester, and Lancaster counties for the ultimate fall feels.

Hayrides in Delaware County

Fall hayrides in Delaware County offer families a quintessential autumn experience with scenic countryside vistas. Delco has no shortage of popular seasonal attractions where families can enjoy a combination of crisp air, colorful foliage, and old-fashioned farm fun.

Arasapha Farms

1835 Middletown Road, Glen Mills
Harvest Hayrides run on weekends from late September through late October, from 10 am–4 pm

Head over to Delco’s Arasapha Farms in Glen Mills for their weekend Harvest Hayrides to the pumpkin garden. Your admission includes mini golf, pedal cars, playground equipment, and classic games like ring toss and tic-tac-toe.

Arasapha also features a five-acre corn maze ($5 for maze admission) and additional at-cost activities including a gem mine and corn cannons. Before heading home, don’t forget to jump on their Pillow Bounce and grab some of their on-site refreshments.

Linvilla Orchards

Hayrides available September 6 through November 2, generally from 10 am–4:45 pm on weekends and 11 am–4:45 pm on weekdays (hours can vary)

On most days in the fall, you can enjoy scenic views of the farm on Linvilla Orchards’ 15-minute Harvest Hayride. For the ultimate fall experience, join one of Linvilla’s Autumn Moon Hayrides on select autumn evenings. These 20-minute excursions take you on a loop around the orchards and end with a campfire, marshmallows, and cider!

For an additional family-friendly experience, families can join a Hayride to the Witch’s House daily in October (as well as on select dates in September). This all-ages hayride features storyime and joke-telling at the wooded home of the friendly Linvilla witch. Linvilla offers a plethora of other fall activities, including Pumpkinland featuring piles of pumpkins and seasonal character cutouts and scarecrows.

Montgomery County Hayrides

Merrymead Farm

2222 S. Valley Forge Rd., Lansdale
Fall Harvest Weekends run September 20 through October 31st (confirm hours on their website)

Well-known for their dairy store and homemade ice cream (don’t miss their fall-favorite, homemade pumpkin ice cream), Merrymead Farm also offers an abundance of fall activities. Kick off your visit with a hayride around the farm and soak up the beautiful fall scenery.

Afterwards, get lost in their corn maze, take a trip through the cornstalk tunnel, enjoy playing in the corn bin, and snap a photo in their sunflower field (where you’re welcome to PYO). The farm also hosts seasonal events and has farm animals to visit, making it a perfect destination for those looking to experience all the joys of autumn in Montco.

Northern Star Farm

112 East Third Avenue, Trappe
Fall Festival weekends run September 13 through October 26, from 10 am–5 pm

Get into the fall spirit with a hayride at Northern Star Farm, part of their annual Fall Festival. Enjoy a 20-minute hayride with hay bale seating provided for all. Northern Star also features pumpkin picking (you pay by the pound for your selection) and a seven-acre corn maze, plus giant apple sling shots, the Little Farmer Playbarn, a cow train, pedal carts, and pony rides. After all that fun, savor apple cider, fresh baked goods, delicious apple cider donuts, and their all-new apple cider slushie.

For a unique twist, Northern Star also offers 3 on-site, themed museums for guests to visit and enjoy. Northern Star Farm is a fully preserved farm in the heart of Trappe, Pennsylvania and has been in the Wismer family since 1927.

Hayrides in Chester County

If hayrides in Chester County are more your speed, bundle up the fam and head to West Chester, Spring City, or Phoenixville for some delightful autumn fun. Chesco hayride options abound and are sure to get your crew into the fall spirit this year.

Highland Orchards

1000 Marshallton Thorndale Road, West Chester
Fall Harvest Hayrides run Saturdays and Sundays in September and October, from 12–4 pm

Plan for fun on the farm with hayrides and festive activities for the whole family at Highland Orchards. Take a 15-minute scenic hayride through the orchards to peep the fall foliage (note that these hayrides do not go to the PYO fields). While you are there, don’t miss their challenging corn maze (plan for it to take up to an hour) and apple cannons. Walk-ins are welcome.

For refreshments, sample their homemade apple cider and apple cider donuts. With a charming farm market offering locally-made goods, Highland Orchards is the perfect destination for celebrating the fall season.

Olszanowski Farm & Pumpkin Patch

315 Pughtown Rd, Spring City
Hayrides available Saturdays and Sundays starting September 27, from 11:00 am – 5:00 pm

Chesco’s Olszanowski Farm also offers a quintessential fall experience. This Phoenixville-area local farm grows its own pumpkins, sunflowers, gourds, cornstalks, and straw. Take a 20-minute hayride out to the patch to pick your perfect pumpkin. Then get lost — and found — in their 7-acre corn maze. Olszanowski’s sunflower maze is perfect for guests of all ages and makes for a festive family photo opp. Their hayride is $3 and pumpkins are priced per pound. Olszanowski’s does allow well-behaved pets on a leash to visit as well.

Pumpkinland at Colonial Gardens

745 Schuylkill Road, Phoenixville
Daytime hayrides open daily starting September 20 through November 1, from 10 am–4:30 pm (check their website for special event dates and times)

Although Colonial Gardens in Phoenixville is not a farm, they’ve got a fun fall and Halloween-y experience for all ages. During the daytime, take a friendly hayride through their woods. Hunt for your perfect pumpkins and gourds in Pumpkinland and explore their cornstalk maze, Halloween Funhouse, and Casper’s Sunken Treasure, all perfect for the little ones.

But beware come night time, when the Haunted Events at Colonial Gardens give Chesco tweens and teens a good scare. If they dare, they’ll find lots of frights aboard a hayride through the haunted woods and in the walk-thru Haunted Hedge Maze. These spine-chilling attractions are open on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights starting October 3rd (confirm online before heading out). Colonial Gardens also offers a mildly frightening Children’s Night Hayride from 7:00-8:30 pm on select October evenings for families seeking a slight spook.

Lancaster County Hayrides

If you have the time, opt for a scenic drive out to Lancaster County where the beautiful vistas on the drive itself are sure to give you all the autumn vibes. Then, visit one of the options we’ve curated below for a family-friendly fall weekend.

Brecknock Orchard

390 Orchard Road, Mohnton
Fall Festivals open Saturdays, September 20 through October 25, from 9 am–4 pm (also open select Fridays and Columbus Day; see their website for details)

During their Fall Festival days, Brecknock Orchard, a pick-your-own farm in Lancaster County, offers wagon rides through their picturesque orchards. Brecknock provides wagons and shears for guests to pick their own apples, squash, and pumpkins, straight from the source. Other activities for the kids include fall crafts, caramel apple-making, a straw maze, and a play area.

For seasonal refreshments, visit Brecknock’s farm market, filled with freshly harvested fruits and vegetables, baked goods, and apple cider donuts. Fall Festival days will also feature various rotating food vendors. Don’t miss their Apple Cider Gelati for a decadent fall treat. Admission is free, though Brecknock’s activities cost money and range in price from $6–$26.

Cherry Crest Adventure Farm

150 Cherry Hill Rd, Ronks
Fall season runs from September 13 through November 1, on Fridays and Saturdays from 10 am–10 pm, and Thursdays and Columbus Day, 10 am–5 pm

Make your way out to Ronks, PA for bushels of fall fun at Cherry Crest Adventure Farm. Start off the perfect fall day on their narrated Farm Tour wagon ride which whisks visitors across the 300-acre property (and is wheelchair-accessible). Then, navigate their five-acre corn maze, with a Wild West theme for 2025, and pick your perfect pumpkin in their patch. Plan to stay all day to fully enjoy Cherry Crest’s extensive outdoor attractions, including epic chute slides, a Barnyard Jump, a baby chick hatchery, and country road carts.

The farm also hosts special fall events and various one-day fall festivals, providing unique and festive experiences for all ages to enjoy. Head out to Cherry Crest for a day (and night) full of fall farm adventures.

Hayrides Near the Main Line 2025
