Looking for a Halloween-season outing that isn’t too scary for younger kids but still has plenty of fun, kooky energy? THE ADDAMS FAMILY: The Musical opens at Walnut Street Theatre in Center City Philadelphia this September, and it’s an easy trip in from the Main Line for a fall matinee or evening show.
The musical follows Wednesday Addams as she falls for a “normal” boy from a respectable family — and asks her father, Gomez, to keep it secret from her mother, Morticia. Chaos (of the funny kind) follows when the families finally meet. It’s a story about accepting your family exactly as it is, wrapped in the “creepy, kooky” charm audiences have loved since Charles Addams created the characters back in 1938.
