Delaware County’s Bates Motel ranks among America’s top haunted attractions with high-tech scares and realistic sets.
Bates Motel & Haunted Hayride

Bates Motel offers haunted Halloween experiences that are consistently ranked as one of the top scary Halloween attractions in the U.S. With high-tech scares and realistic sets, it’s not for the faint-hearted! It features a terrifying haunted hayride, a spooky haunted motel, and a spine-chilling cornfield.
Tickets start at $40, and the haunted attractions are open from September 19th to November 2nd. Bates Motel is best suited for kids age 12 and older, but there are also non-scary daytime events offered as well.
Haunted Halloween Attractions for Teens in Chester County
Chester County delivers bone-chilling thrills through haunted hayrides, terrifying hedge mazes, and real asylum experiences. All in all, these attractions range from garden center scares to Pennsylvania’s premier haunted scream park adventures.
Colonial Gardens
Location: 745 Schuylkill Rd, Phoenixville, PA 19460
Scares await around every corner in these haunted attractions located in an independent garden center. Teens can climb aboard the Haunted Hayride for a bone-chilling ride through the woods where monsters roam freely, then navigate the Haunted Hedge Maze, surrounded by towering hedges and hidden terrors.
For the bravest thrill-seekers only—these experiences are not advised for kids under 8. They also have daytime family-friendly fall events from September 26 until November 1st. The haunted attractions run from October 2nd until October 26th.
Pennhurst Asylum
Location: 601 N Church St, Spring City, PA 19475
Operating in the same facility that housed a sanatorium for 80 years, Pennhurst Asylum is a terrifying, near-real-life attraction in Chester County. Visitors can journey through the twisted hospital halls of the asylum, face horrific experiments in The Morgue, and crawl through the claustrophobic Tunnels.
Pennhurst is targeted for an older crowd, so older teens are recommended. Children as young as 10 years old are allowed to walk through the attractions, but they do not recommend it. Tickets start at $55.
Shocktoberfest
