Camp Vanguard: Where Neurodiverse Children and Adults Thrive in a Summer of Friendship and Independence
Experience a woodland summer camp experience where neurodiverse children build confidence and make genuine friendships through specialized support and traditional camp adventures.
Are you searching for a summer camp that provides an unforgettable experience for neurodiverse children and adults while supporting their unique needs? Camp Vanguard creates space for campers ages 7-21 to learn independence, build meaningful friendships, and enjoy exciting camp traditions in a structured and inclusive environment.
A Beautiful Setting with Specialized Support
Nestled on 200 acres of scenic grounds at Camp Kweebec* in Schwenksville, PA, Camp Vanguard offers one-week or two-week experiences specifically designed for campers with autism, speech-language disorders, developmental disabilities, learning differences, or social-emotional challenges.
“We believe every child deserves to experience the magic of summer camp,” says Tom Smith, Assistant Director of Vanguard Specialized Services. “Our team of highly trained staff from The Vanguard School ensures each camper receives the support they need through age-appropriate groupings, low camper-to-staff ratios, behavioral support, and structured daily programming.”
Activities That Build Skills While Creating Joy
Camp Vanguard combines traditional summer camp activities with a supportive, skill-building approach. Campers participate in beloved activities, including:
- GaGa Ball – A camp favorite that builds agility and teamwork
- Arts & Crafts – Creative expression through hands-on projects
- Cooking – Interactive sessions that develop independence
- Outdoor Adventures – And many more exciting activities!
Each activity strengthens interpersonal skills, self-advocacy, and confidence while ensuring every camper feels included, encouraged, and empowered.
Flexible Day and Overnight Options (Plus Transportation)
Families can choose between day and overnight camp options based on their camper’s needs and comfort level. Day campers (9:00 AM – 3:00 PM) receive convenient transportation from the Malvern campus to Camp Kweebec. Overnight campers enjoy extended activities, evening programs, and the complete camp experience.
“Many parents tell us their children look forward to Camp Vanguard every year,” shares Tom. “The structured environment allows campers to socialize and participate in fun activities in a supportive setting where differences are celebrated.”
