“Independent Lake Camp as known as ILC will forever hold a place in my heart and my child’s heart. ILC is just different when it comes to Summer camps in a completely amazing way. Children at ILC are encouraged to learn and grow and try new activities. Campers never have the same day twice. Would I have ever expected my child to try trapeze or play Dungeons and Dragons with campers and counselors from all over the world, likely not?! So many activities that I’m honestly jealous that I never got to try, but it’s all there at ILC. My son has been a camper at ILC for two years and each year he discovers new activities that he enjoys outside of camp. There are many staff members that I’d love to recognize at ILC, however my top honors go to Norman Miller and Jeff Gould. These two are amazing. This past Summer my son experienced quite a bit of homesickness, while everyone pitched in to help with his feelings, Norman especially took my son under his care and continued to be his biggest fan while at camp. Norman and Jeff would check in with my son frequently. Norman recruited my son for ILC’s basketball team. This gave my child tremendous confidence that he carries with him to this day. Norman and Jeff believe in their campers. My son is already counting down the days to return to his second “”home”” at ILC. There honestly isn’t a week or even a day sometimes where he doesn’t talk about camp! Jeff Gould and the ILC team do a fair amount of philanthropy in the Philadelphia and Main Line area through various organizations. While the camp is in Wayne County, PA, the Gould family has deep roots in the Main Line and surrounding areas. Jeff frequently donates time and services to various organizations in the local area and around the country and world.”
