Trail Challenge: Painter Trail Hike for Adults and Teens

December 20, 2025 @ 10:30 am - 12:30 pm

Adults and teens ages 15-17, discover sweeping views along the 2.2-mile Painter Trail. Named for the Painter brothers, who once owned this land, the trail offers memorable views of the Arboretum and the scenic Rocky Run. The route winds through open meadows and quiet woodlands, with two easy stream crossings and several steep hills that make it one of Tyler’s more challenging hikes.

What to Expect:

  • A 2.2-mile loop with moderate to steep hills
  • Open meadows, shaded woodlands, and varied terrain
  • Two easy stream crossings
  • Views of Rocky Run and the surrounding landscape

Please wear sturdy hiking boots for confident footing and bring water and snacks to keep your energy up. Hiking poles for extra support on rocky paths are recommended.

Pre-registration is required. Check in at the Visitor Center, where you’ll meet your guide. This moderately paced tour covers 2.2 miles, with changes in grade and walking surfaces, including pavement, grass, gravel, and rocky trails.
