Memorial Day Remembrance Service at Washington Memorial Chapel

May 25 @ 11:00 am - 2:00 pm
$10

Washington Memorial Chapel’s Veterans Commission has announced that it will honor the sacrifice and legacy of America’s fallen military heroes during its annual Memorial Day Remembrance Service on Monday, May 25, at the Washington Chapel.

This special commemoration will begin with a solemn Choral Matins at 11 AM, which will pay tribute to the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to the United States. Through sacred music, prayer, and remembrance, the Choral Matins will offer attendees an opportunity to reflect on the extraordinary courage and sacrifice of those who paid the ultimate price to protect America’s freedom.

Father Tim Steeves, a retired Army Chaplain and Lieutenant Colonel, will serve as the guest speaker to offer his deeply personal understanding of military service, sacrifice, and faith.

“Memorial Day is one of the most sacred observances our nation shares,” said the Washington Memorial Veterans Commission. “It is a time to pause, reflect, and honor the men and women who laid down their lives for our country. We invite the community to join us in tribute, gratitude, and fellowship.”

Following the service, guests are invited to gather in fellowship for a Memorial Day picnic lunch honoring veterans, military families, and the surrounding community. The luncheon is free and open to the public, though a suggested $10 donation is encouraged to help support the Veterans Commission. Guests are kindly asked to RSVP in advance.

In preparation for the Memorial Day observance, the Veterans Commission is also seeking volunteers to assist with the picnic lunch and hospitality efforts. Volunteer opportunities include bringing side dishes, desserts, and/or beverages, as well as helping with setup, serving, and cleanup. Those interested in volunteering may sign up.
