The first weekend in December is the main event of the holidays for Wayne!
On Friday, Dec. 2, from 5:30 – 7:30 pm, there will be carriage rides, ornament crafts at the firehouse, carolers form Notre Dame Academy, and the lighting of the brand new (planted in April) Christmas Tree with emcee, 6 ABC News Sports Director, Ducis Rogers. Then Santa rides down North Wayne to everyone’s delight on a Radnor Fire Truck.
On Saturday, the Radnor Memorial Library Elves for Shelves 5k Run and Fun Walk goes through the streets of Wayne at 8 am. At 10 am, Santa takes to the Fire truck once more for a short and sweet parade down East Lancaster Avenue (from Aberdeen to North Wayne) led by the Radnor High School Marching Band. He then will greet children for free, take your own pictures in the courtyard at Wayne Presbyterian Church right on Lancaster Avenue until 11:45 am. Hot chocolate and cookies too!
On Sunday, December 4, at 5 pm, the Radnor Historical Society in partnership with the Wayne Business Association hosts their holiday party. The Legacy business of the year, Cowan Flowers will be honored for their 100-year Anniversary. As always, there will be singing and holiday treats, plus a chance to view the historic Finley House and the Wagon Barn. Most important, we will have a visit from Santa, from whom all children in attendance will receive a special coloring page and an RHS box of crayons.
The Christmas Tree at the Wayne train station stays lit throughout the season, giving Wayne a very festive ambiance. There will be free parking on Saturdays in Wayne until December 31, so pick a day to shop and dine in Wayne during the season!
