Middle Grade Science Program with Scientista at Downingtown Library
Calling all scientists in 6th through 8th grades – join Scientista for a special STEM program celebrating women in STEM.
Downingtown STEM Academy juniors, Hanaa Saleem and Sruthi Desikan, will lead this program as leaders of Scientista, a student-led nonprofit organization with a mission to address the gender gap in STEM. They work to create meaningful, hands-on opportunities for young girls to explore science and technology. Through Scientista, they have been engaging middle school girls in accessible, exciting STEM activities that build confidence and curiosity.
The STEM focus for this program is genetics, including an experiment with strawberries to learn about DNA. Please be sure to wear comfortable clothes you don’t mind possibly getting a little messy!
