Martin Luther King Jr.: A Day On, Not a Day Off with Bethel AME Church

Join the NAACP Main Line branch for a powerful day of community, service, and reflection at Bethel AME Church in Bryn Mawr. This collaborative event is co-sponsored by The P.A.L.M., Freedom Empowerment Academy, the NAACP Main Line Branch, the Main Line MLK Association, and Power Main Line.
Our mission is to build a scalable legacy for the Main Line that centers on the history, growth, and identity of our youth while fostering unity across our entire community. We begin our afternoon together with a Community Lunch at the start of the event.
Attendance Policy: This is a family-centered event. Parents and guardians are strictly required to remain on-site for the duration of the programming; children may not be dropped off.
Programming Highlights
Adult Track: Faith and Justice Panel. This featured panel will examine the vital role of faith and justice in current times. Participants will explore how different faith traditions can work together to combat misinformation, lead with love, and form a more equitable “Beloved Community.”
Youth Tracks: tailored programming designed to ensure a high-quality, engaging experience for all ages:
- Pre-K & Kindergarten (Ages 4+): Enrichment and activities led by experienced community educators.
- Elementary (Grades 1–4): Interactive sessions focusing on art and history.
- Middle & High School: Leadership and historical identity workshops facilitated by instructors from the Freedom Empowerment Academy.
- Community Music: All youth participants will join a music session culminating in a special joint performance in the sanctuary.
