Connect your family with the outdoors on this fun and interactive nature walk, designed to spark curiosity and wonder for visitors of all ages. Seek out the day’s wonders at the Arboretum, uncovering plants, animals, and other seasonal highlights that bring the landscape to life.

Led by knowledgeable guides, your adventure may take you to the pond, through shady woodland trails, or into sunny meadows — each offering its own unique discoveries. Using simple tools like magnifying glasses, you’ll take a closer look at the natural world and learn more about its hidden connections.

Children will receive a Tyler journal to document their findings, with time at the end to reflect, draw, or write about their favorite moments. Bring your journal along to future Family Explorers programs to track your discoveries through the seasons.

PRE-REGISTRATION REQUIRED

This program is best suited for elementary school children accompanied by adults; however, families and siblings of all ages are welcome. Check in at the Visitor Center, where you’ll meet your guide. As with any walk on the Tyler trails, sturdy shoes are suggested. PLEASE NOTE: Strollers may not be ideal on some of our trails. If you plan to bring an infant or young child, we recommend a carrier. Weather or other factors may adjust the day’s topic, but nature will always shine through! In the event of inclement weather, the tour will be held indoors.

NON-MEMBERS: $18 per adult, $10 per child ages 3-17; children ages two and under are free and do not need to register. The non-member fee includes admission, so please feel free to stay for the day!

GUEST PASS HOLDERS: For non-members only. FREE. Please submit your guest pass to the Visitor Center at check-in. If you are a guest accompanying a family-level or higher member, please inform the Visitor Center Associate.
