Looking to spark your child’s curiosity about the outdoors? Join Tyler Arboretum for Family Explorers: What Lives at the Arboretum?

This program invites families to explore nature using their senses to uncover its secrets. Each month, head outdoors to discover a different seasonal theme, searching for plants, animals, and other natural wonders that bring the Arboretum to life. Using simple tools like magnifying glasses or binoculars, participants can take a closer look at their discoveries.

Each child will receive a Tyler journal to document discoveries, with time at the end to reflect, draw, or write about what they’ve found. Bring your journal to future Family Explorers tours to capture all the amazing moments of the season.

Pre-registration is required for this all-ages event (although this program is best suited for elementary school children accompanied by adults; families and siblings of all ages are welcome).

Check in at the Visitor Center, where you’ll meet your guide. As with any walk on the Tyler trails, sturdy shoes are suggested. 

PLEASE NOTE: Strollers may not be ideal on some of the trails. If you plan to bring an infant or young child, consider a carrier. Weather or other factors may adjust the day’s topic, but nature will always shine through! In the event of inclement weather, the tour will be held indoors.
