Lara is the Founder, Studio Owner and Creative Leader of Ivory Tree Portraits, a newborn and family portrait studio with locations in Wayne and Newtown. She studied Marketing at The Pennsylvania State University (where she met her husband). Filling her ladies’ lives with memories through portraits is incredibly important to her and giving that gift to other families is her passion. Her favorite things include relaxing at the Chesapeake, snuggling with her labs, family dinner with local fam (all 14 of them) every Sunday, gardening with her girls, and cooking with her husband.

Hard Work and Giving Back

After college, Lara worked in marketing for several companies, such as Wells Fargo and Aramark Refreshment Services. As a professional, she has consistently found her greatest strengths in setting the stage for consistent growth using data-driven, exciting marketing campaigns and strategies. While Lara loved her work in corporate marketing, she found the decision to jump into entrepreneurship an easy one. Laura created Ivory Tree Portraits in Wayne and then opened a second location in Newtown during the pandemic. “It not only let me grow personally but enabled me to employ new team members at a time when small businesses were struggling to keep employees but it also enabled me to serve an entire new community,” she shared. Lara understands that being an entrepreneur can be isolating and difficult, which is one of the reasons why she finds it her mission to mentor others and pay it forward. Lara recalls her mentorship with her colleague and friend, Brittany. Lara did a deep analysis of her business. She developed and trained her team on sales strategies, marketing tactics with an emphasis on implementation, financial strength, and launched a product extension which delivered significant revenue increase.

Point of Pride

Lara takes great pride in building a studio that supports her employees and encourages and challenges an all-women team. “Not many portrait studios have the ability to support multiple photographers. Most photographers are extroverts by nature, loving to connect with clients but then spend countless hours behind a screen. The studio is able to create a community and more than that a team of strong, creative, unique women who support and challenge each other’s growth. For this I am most proud!” Says Lara. Ivory Portrait boasts a 90 percent client return rate.
