With sunset at 7:25 PM and the moon rising at 7:19 PM\, the hike’s departure from the Roberts Elementary School parking lot will be timed for just when the shadows start to play tricks on your eyes. Is that a tree stump or a woodland prankster? Only one way to find out! \nDetails: \n\nDistance: A breezy 1.5 mile hike.\nElevation: 300 feet of gain—enough to make you wonder if the hill is growing as a joke.\nTerrain: Pure\, unadulterated dirt\, rocks and roots.\nDuration: 90 minutes of wondering why your (red light only) headlamp keeps hitting spiderwebs.\n\nThe “April Fools” Connection: In 2026\, the Pink Moon falls exactly on April 1st. This is a rare cosmic alignment that hasn’t happened in years\, making it the perfect night to tell your hiking buddy their shoelaces are untied while they’re navigating a 300-foot incline.  Peak full moon is 10:12pm \nWhat to Bring: \n\n\nDress for the weather \n\n\nNo Hats: Let your hair feel the moonlight (and the occasional low-hanging branch). \n\n\nA Sense of Humor: Essential for when you realize 1.5 miles feels much longer in the dark. \n\n\nMeet in the Roberts Elementary School parking lot by 7:20pm.

SUMMARY:McKaig Pot-of-Gold Treasure Hunt\, S'mores and Bonfire
DESCRIPTION:Unleash your inner explorer and join the McKaig “Search for the Pot o’ Gold.” Families and friends are invited to embark on a treasure hunt adventure on Saturday\, March 14th\, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. \nThe mischievous McKaig Leprechaun has hidden his treasure! Follow St. Patrick’s footsteps using your emailed treasure map (with instructions!) to discover the pot o’ gold hidden somewhere in the woods. The hunt will take about 45 minutes\, and when you find the pot\, you’ll receive some “gold” coins of your own. After your successful quest\, gather around a roaring bonfire for classic s’mores and share your discoveries with fellow adventurers. \nMcKaig members can join the fun for just $24 per group of 4\, while non-members can participate for $28 per group. Don’t miss this exciting and treasure-filled evening! \n\nRegister here – each registration is for 4 s’mores and kids receive McKaig “Gold.” Plan to bring a flashlight unless you’re in for more of a challenge\, and something to sit on. Additional s’mores kits and water bottles available. Please wear appropriate clothing and footwear\, the event is rain or shine. \nThere will be a bonfire or 2 in a fire container at the event. McKaig will provide roasting sticks and s’more kits along with wet wipes. Park in the Roberts Elementary School Parking Lot.
