Main Line Indoor Playspaces Adapting to COVID-19

You'll need a reservation, and of course a mask, but here are some options if you want to venture out!

Quarantine has been especially rough with little ones who have a seemingly endless amount of energy and turn a perfectly normal living room into a post-disaster scene with startling speed. Sometimes you just need a change of scenery, but the weather doesn’t always cooperate for outdoor play. The pandemic has limited our options, but these kid-favorite spots on the Main Line are opening their doors–with plenty of precaution. You’ll need a reservation, and of course a mask, but here are some options if you want to venture out.

Lulu’s Casita

6 Cricket Ave., Ardmore

Lulu’s is offering daily open play in two time slots: 9 am-noon and 1-4 pm. Reservations are required to participate, as capacity is strictly limited. Masks are required for adults. Upon check-in, everyone must get a temperature check, and provide their email address or phone number for contact tracing. Hand sanitizer is provided throughout the playspace, and you’ll notice social distancing markers and signs to remind you to keep a safe distance as well.

In the middle of each play session, staff will wipe down all frequent touch surfaces and swap all little toys for clean ones. One feature that is not returning for now: the ball pit. For obvious reasons.

Chatter Splatter

1030 Conshohocken Road, Conshohocken

This popular spot in Conshy is open but operating at 50% capacity to ensure social distancing. Tickets are required in advance for open play. Parents must wear masks. They are also offering the opportunity to reserve your own private playdate for $300 for two hours after 2 pm.

LEGOLAND Discovery Center

500 W. Germantown Pike, Plymouth Meeting

Due to capacity limitations, you must purchase tickets online for a specified 2.5-hour playtime (Thursdays—Mondays, 10 am—12:30 pm or 2—4:30 pm) to reserve your spot. All guests age 2 and older are required to wear face masks. During the reserved playtimes, there will be LEGO bricks to be used just for your family, and that will be sanitized before each playtime. As an added safety measure, certain attractions are closed: character meet-and-greet, photo experiences, and Creative Workshop. The pirate ship, movie theater, and the Imagination Express are temporarily adjusted or operating with limited capacity.

Charming Star Playroom

4627 West Chester Pike, Newtown Square

You must purchase play vouchers online in advance so Charming Star can limit the number of people per play session and ensure social distancing. Also for social distancing purposes, they ask for no more than two adults per family. The party room will be open during play sessions to allow for some extra room to explore, as well. Music classes, art classes, and specials events will be split into multiple days to limit the number of people at a time. Staff and adults are required to wear masks.
