DESCRIPTION:Join PTM for a meaningful celebration in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.\, where families can engage in activities that reflect his legacy of equality\, justice\, and peace. Included with regular museum admission. \nJoin a special story time in the Book Nook featuring a reading “It Starts with ME\,” by Dr. Bernice E. King. The story time follows Amora\, the Beloved Community\, and their contribution to making the world better and encouraging others to take a stand and finding our voice. \nBuild confidence through improv and performing arts in a workshop with Music Theatre Philly at 11:30 am\, 12:30 pm\, and 1:30 pm. \nLittle Yoga Squad will be on hand sharing movement and affirmations while building community during a yoga session at 12 and 1 pm. \nExplore art and textiles in a frame weaving workshop led by teaching artists from Allens Lane Art Center at 1 pm\, 2 pm\, and 3 pm. \nCelebrate innovation and science in a workshop led by local scientist Nafees Norris. at 1:30 pm\, 2:30 pm\, and 3:30 pm. \nFinally\, bring the beat to the grand finale with PME Drumline as they lead the End of Day Parade from 4-4:30 pm.

SUMMARY:Radical Peace and Public Memory: Youth Leadership\, Gallery Talks\, and Family Activities at the African American Museum
DESCRIPTION:The day begins with an oratorical contest for high school juniors and seniors\, hosted by the Thomas & Woods Foundation in AAMP’s Auditorium. Students will present original speeches reflecting on Dr. King’s legacy and the meaning of Radical Peace today. \nThroughout the afternoon\, AAMP’s Curatorial team will offer gallery talks connected to current exhibitions at 12:00 PM\, 2:00 PM\, and 4:00 PM\, providing historical context and interpretive insight for visitors. \nIn parallel\, family-friendly\, hands-on activities will take place in public spaces throughout the Museum\, offering creative and educational entry points for visitors of all ages. (10-2pm in Timeline\, 2-6pm in the Auditorium). \nRepresentatives from Citizens Bank including the Phillie Phanatic (in a designated area in the Founders Gallery)  and a former Phillies player will be present throughout the afternoon. \nAdmission is free\, but registration for timed entry is suggested.

Families will learn how Dr. King and others took action for freedom and justice to ensure that all people are treated fairly and equally. \nThe program begins with storytelling and art-making\, focusing on legendary figures who bravely stood up for civil rights such as Harriet Tubman\, Frederick Douglass\, Rosa Parks\, Ruby Bridges\, John Lewis and more.  Through shared activities\, families will connect these stories to ideas of courage\, kindness\, fairness\, and working together to build a stronger community. \nAt 2 pm\, the award-winning team Hip Hop Fundamentals will present an interactive program of breakdancing and storytelling where children will experience American Civil Rights history in a new way\, centered around Dr. King ‘s message of LOVE. \nEnjoy an afternoon that honors Dr. King’s legacy and inspires families to think about how they can help make positive change in their own communities every day. \nThis program is free\, but registration is requested here.

Safari”: Drive through the farm to drop off your tree. Enter at 6336 Ardleigh Street entrance.\nPark and Drag: Park along Washington Lane and bring your tree in yourself!\n\nAttendees do not need to bring a tree to enter the festival.
