DESCRIPTION:Minas introduces students to the country of Brazil through its music\, Samba and Bossa Nova. After performing examples of Brazilian music and presenting historic\, geographical\, and educational references\, Minas will introduce Brazil’s famous festival Carnaval\, demonstrating authentic Brazilian percussion instruments – surdo\, tamborim\, repinique\, agogô\, reco-reco\, ganzá\, pandeiro\, and cuíca. \nParticipation is enhanced by engaging students to sing in Portuguese (the language of Brazil)\, scat\, and play Brazilian percussion (instruments supplied). Students learn while being engaged and having fun. \nRegistration is required for this event. This event may be held outdoors\, weather-permitting.
