SUMMARY:Summer Fridays in the Field at the Wagner Institute of Science
DESCRIPTION:Explore the local ecosystem this summer at the Wagner’s Fridays in the Field! Beginning June 20th\, the Wagner Teaching Garden will be open for independent educational exploration every Friday from 1 – 3:30pm. \nThe Wagner’s Teaching Garden is their most valuable classroom. Not only is their green space full of pollinator gardens\, but it is also a certified Wildlife Habitat\, Bird Habitat\, and Monarch Waystation—their milkweed plants provide valuable nutrients for Monarch butterflies during their cross continental migration. \nVisitors of all ages may borrow hand lenses for close observation of our urban ecosystem\, use nature guides to help identify the different animals\, trees\, and rocks found in their yard\, or take time to relax in the shade and draw from nature. Wagner staff will be available to facilitate use of materials\, but Fridays in the Field is a mostly unguided opportunity to experience the Wagner Teaching Garden. \nVisitors looking to attend Fridays in the Field must enter the museum through the front entrance on Montgomery Street and check in with the front desk. Visitors who walk-in and visitors who preregister will have full access to the museum and access to the yard from 1:00 – 3:30 pm on Fridays.

SUMMARY:Bells Across PA Unveiling at Historic Trappe
DESCRIPTION:As Pennsylvania prepares to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence in 2026\, Historic Trappe is thrilled to be part of the Bells Across PA initiative. On Saturday\, August 2 at 10:00 am at the Historic Trappe Speaker’s House\, Historic Trappe will unveil a fiberglass bell featuring artwork by Lisa Short of L.T. Short Folk Art in North Wales\, PA. \nThrough Bells Across PA\, America250PA will be placing 108 fiberglass bells across the Commonwealth. The bell at the Speaker’s House is particularly special to Historic Trappe as the artist envisioned a bell that would celebrate fraktur\, an art tradition that is distinctly Pennsylvania German. The design features symbols of the United States including the American eagle\, Statue of Liberty\, and motto “Liberty and Justice for All.” The bell will have a permanent home outside the Trappe Speaker’s House\, once the residence of Frederick Muhlenburg\, the first Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives. \nThis special event will celebrate Lisa Short’s artwork and showcase the progress that is being made on the Speaker’s House restoration ahead of its grand public opening in April\, 2026. Guests can also enjoy free guided tours of the Speaker’s House throughout the day from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.
