DESCRIPTION:Good Neighbor Day is held every 4th of July in Kerr Park in Downingtown\, PA. It’s an action-packed day for the whole family – adults and children of all ages. \nThe celebration kicks off with the Run for Life (5K\, 10K & 15K) and 5K Freedom Walk on Pennsylvania Avenue in Downingtown at 8:00 am. Over 1\,800 athletes participate each year in this run to benefit the ambulance and rescue squads within the Downingtown Area School District. There is also a Kids K Fun Run at 10:00 am in Kerr Park. \nThe day’s activities include many fun and unique opportunities for family fun. Enjoy fabulous food and visit more than 80 craft exhibitors and food vendors. Families can race their canoe down the Brandywine Creek. Kids can don their bikes in red\, white and blue for the bike decorating content and break out their trikes for the Big Wheel Race. at 11:30 am\, the Carnival kicks off with rides and amusements. All Carnival tickets will be available for sale in Kerr Park on Friday\, July 4\, 2025\, with no advance sales available. Unlimited rides wristbands will be sold for $25.00 per person. Single tickets are $1.25. \nClose the day out with a community talent show followed by an awesome fireworks display at 9:30 pm (or whenever it is sufficiently dark). \n

DESCRIPTION:Join the Penn Wynne Civic Associations’s 82nd annual Independence Day Parade and Carnival! \nThe parade will begin at 10:00 am on Friday\, July 4th outside of the Penn Wynne-Overbrook Firehouse. Local children and families are welcome to participate\, whether it be walking\, biking\, scooting\, or riding in a wagon or stroller. Patriotic decorations are encouraged! If you wish to participate in the parade\, please arrive by 9:45 am to start lining up. See the PWCA website for the full parade route. \nAfter the parade\, make your way to the carnival at Penn Wynne Park (214 E. Manoa Road) from 10:30 am–12:30 pm. The carnival will feature music\, cotton candy\, bounce houses\, and various games for which children can earn tickets to exchange for small prizes. Pizza\, including a kosher option\, and ice pops will also be available for sale. \nWristbands cost $10 each and must be purchased for all children who participate in the carnival activities. From May through August\, these shows take place on Mondays\, Wednesdays and Thursdays at 11:15 am\, 1:15 pm\, 3:15\, and 5:15 pm\, and on Fridays\, Saturdays and Sundays at 11:15 am\, 1:15 pm\, 3:15 pm\, 5:15 pm\, and 8:15 pm. \nOn Friday\, Saturday and Sunday nights at 9:15 pm\, those same fountains are illuminated for dazzling\, 30-minute displays of water\, music\, and color. Bringing your own chairs for this event is strongly recommended. While Longwood strongly recommends chairs\, blankets will be permitted in designated locations. Chairs may be placed beginning at 12:00 pm. \nJuly 5th’s performance is a tribute to Prince entitled When Lights Dance\, while July 6th’s Come as You Are show features 90’s hits from the likes of Nirvana\, the Cranberries\, and MC Hammer. \nThis event is free with Gardens admission. This annual Independence Day tradition honors the service and sacrifice of America’s veterans and military families with music\, prayer\, and reflection. \nSet within the sacred space of the Chapel—built as a tribute to General George Washington and the Continental Army—the Choral Matins service will feature the Chapel Choir presenting stirring patriotic hymns and sacred music. Scripture readings\, prayers for the nation\, and a sermon that reflects the enduring principles of freedom\, courage\, and faith will accompany the musical selections. Father Tim Steeves\, priest associate for the Chapel\, will preside over the service and offer special remarks about the importance of celebrating our nation’s founding while also remembering the men and women who have upheld the promise of liberty throughout our history. \nFollowing the Choral Matins\, a picnic lunch will be held in the Bishop White Courtyard on the Chapel’s grounds at 12:00 pm. The event is free and open to the public; however\, a $10 donation is requested and RSVP’s are requested. Guests are invited to stay after the lunch to enjoy the Chapel’s popular annual Independence Day Carillon Concert starting at 2:00 pm.
