SUMMARY:Holiday Bach's Brandenburg with the Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia
DESCRIPTION:Date & Time \nSaturday\, December 19\, 2026 4:00pm\nGoodhart Hall at Bryn Mawr College \nSunday\, December 20\, 2026 4:00pm\nPhiladelphia Film Society Center \nProgram \nJ.S. Bach – Brandenburg No. 1 in F Major\, BWV 1046\nJ.S. Bach – Brandenburg No. 3 in G Major\, BWV 1048\nJ.S. Bach – Brandenburg No. 4 in G Major\, BWV 1049\nTheofanidis – Muse \nConcertmaster\, Min-Young Kim will lead Bach’s Brandenburg Concertos\nNos. 1\, 3\, and 4 showcase the brilliance\, variety\, and invention of one of\nmusic’s most enduring masterpieces. Each concerto offers its own\ndistinctive character\, from the festive energy of No. 1 to the pure string\nvitality of No. 3 and the sparkling interplay of No. 4. Complementing Bach’s\nmusic is Christopher Theofanidis’s Muse\, a contemporary response inspired\nby Brandenburg Concerto No. 3. Together\, these works place Baroque form\nand modern imagination in dialogue across three centuries. \nAdditional pre-concert lecture: \nBrandenburg and Bach with David Hayes \nSunday\, December 6\, 2026 2:30PM \nPhiladelphia Ethical Society\n1906 Rittenhouse Square\nPhiladelphia\, PA 19103 \nMusic Director David Hayes explores the brilliance and complexity of Bach’s\nBrandenburg Concertos—six remarkably inventive works that showcase a different and often daring combination of instruments. Written during a period when Bach was deeply engaged with secular instrumental music\, the Brandenburg Concertos reveal the composer at his most imaginative and adventurous. David will illuminate what makes these works so distinctive and why\, more than 300 years later\, they remain among the great achievements of the Baroque era. \nTicket link: https://chamberorchestra.my.salesforce-sites.com/ticket/#/events/a0SRm000010kjUfMAI
