DESCRIPTION:Think you’ve seen it all? Think again. This April Fools’ Day\, head to the McKaig Nature Education Center for a hike that’s 100% real\, even if the date feels suspicious. With sunset at 7:25 PM and the moon rising at 7:19 PM\, the hike’s departure from the Roberts Elementary School parking lot will be timed for just when the shadows start to play tricks on your eyes. Is that a tree stump or a woodland prankster? Only one way to find out! \nDetails: \n\nDistance: A breezy 1.5 mile hike.\nElevation: 300 feet of gain—enough to make you wonder if the hill is growing as a joke.\nTerrain: Pure\, unadulterated dirt\, rocks and roots.\nDuration: 90 minutes of wondering why your (red light only) headlamp keeps hitting spiderwebs.\n\nThe “April Fools” Connection: In 2026\, the Pink Moon falls exactly on April 1st. Instructor Miss Virginia will guide you and your child through warming up your bodies with movement\, practicing listening skills using activities like freeze dances\, and jamming to classic and new tunes. PlayIn Time’s Music Circles build musical connection and community through shared fun. Get ready to dance\, jam\, and learn. \nThings to know: \n\nClasses will run on Friday mornings from 10:15 – 11:00am.\nJoin for the whole series or just for one or two sessions. Register here.\nIf you have them\, you are welcome to bring your own shakers\, sticks\, or other percussive instruments.\nClasses will be held outside on the Great Lawn so bring a blanket or lawn pad to sit on.\n\nPlease note\, while the program is geared toward younger ages\, siblings ages 6 and older are welcome and can attend free of charge.
