Local Artists this weekend will be Useful & Beautiful and local musicians Kevin Schramm and Lizard Creek. The Community Tent will be representatives from Friends of Crum Creek. Davidson’s Mushrooms will not be at the market on June 21st\, but will return on June 28th. \nRotating vendors coming June 21st include Philly Waffles\, Traditional Greek\, Five Saints Distilling\, Market Day Canele\, A Seasoned Chef\, The Circle Kind Winery\, and 4ever Juices. Local Artists this weekend will be Useful & Beautiful and local musicians Kevin Schramm and Lizard Creek. The Community Tent will be representatives from Friends of Crum Creek. This weekend’s kids’ activity will be making Juneteenth Spin Drums and is presented by members of the Wesley AME Church. \nThe Swarthmore College OneCard is accepted at most vendor stands and PA FMNP vouchers are accepted for fresh fruits and vegetables.

SUMMARY:International Archaeology Day at Newlin Grist Mill
DESCRIPTION:Dig into history at Newlin Grist Mill as the site celebrates and participates in International Archaeology Day! \nThis year’s International Archaeology Day coincides with the final Public Archaeology excavation of the year at Newlin Grist Mill. The public is invited to participate (or just watch) as Newlin Grist Mill’s professional archaeologist\, Keith Doms\, and a dedicated corps of archaeology volunteers seek to gain a deeper understanding of the site’s history through careful excavation using scientific techniques and thorough documentation. Depending on the day\, visitors might be invited to help screen excavated soil to look for small artifacts or assist with cleaning artifacts that have already been excavated. \nExcavations this season are planned for the Trimble Farm complex in the Historic Area. The Trimble family built their house on the property adjoining the Mill in 1739 and\, over time\, built a whole complex of structures to support the operations of their household and farm. By conducting archaeological studies in the area around the Trimble House\, the Newlin Grist Mill staff hopes to learn more about the people who lived and worked there in the 18th\, 19th\, and early 20th centuries. \nThis event is free and open to all ages (children must be accompanied by an adult). No reservations are required. If you would like to help out with the dig\, be sure to wear clothes that can get dirty and close-toed footwear. Bring work gloves if you have them; the site has a limited number of pairs to lend.

Learn how to measure key parameters and uncover what they reveal about the pond’s overall health.\nJoin Clarke Green (author of cagksq) for a 20-30 minute guided walk along the Red Clay Creek in Anson B. Nixon Park\, exploring centuries of change from wetlands to milldams to modern restoration. Discover how native plants\, flowing water\, and community action are bringing this living stream back to health.  These walks will be offered at 10:30 am\, 11:30 am\, 12:30 pm and 1:30 pm.\nExperience a Bilingual Storybook Walk.  Come and read the book Tree Hugs with Kennett Library and then do a fun sensory hands-on discovery!  This guided activity will be offered at 11:00 am and 1:00 pm. Participants are welcome to read on their own during the rest of the event.\n\nAll fishing equipment will be provided\, and close-toed shoes are recommended for fishing.
