DESCRIPTION:Each Wednesday through December 17\, students can join a weekly art class at the Rockdale Art Center. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWith new projects each session\, this class is perfect for the growing artist to explore drawing\, painting\, collage\, sculpture & more while learning about different artists and art techniques. Students create a unique artwork every class on paper\, board\, canvas\, or even in air dry clay or other 3D materials. This course is for ages 5-10 years old\, please understand we cannot accept younger students. \nSometimes art-making can get messy\, so students should dress to create. \nChoose to pay per class\, month\, or for the full course! Choose what works best for your family from the drop down menu below: \n$420.00 for the 16 week course\, includes all supplies \nOR \n\n$135 for OCTOBER classes (5 classes)\n$108 for NOVEMBER classes (4 classes)\n$81 for DECEMBER classes (3 classes)\n\nOR pay $30 per class!

DESCRIPTION:The Swarthmore Farmers Market is a community-led market that brings fresh\, locally sourced food to the Swarthmore Town Center parking lot. Open every Saturday from May to November with an average of 19 vendors every weekend\, this market is a beloved weekend tradition for grocery shopping with the neighbors. Each week also features live music\, local artists\, and kids’ activities. \nWeekly market vendors include Beechwood Orchards\, Berry Patch Produce\, Kneehigh Farm\, Ironstone Farm\, Big Sky Bakery\, and Kismet Bagels. Davidson’s Mushrooms will not be at the market on June 21st\, but will return on June 28th. \nRotating vendors coming June 21st include Philly Waffles\, Traditional Greek\, Five Saints Distilling\, Market Day Canele\, A Seasoned Chef\, The Circle Kind Winery\, and 4ever Juices. Local Artists this weekend will be Useful & Beautiful and local musicians Kevin Schramm and Lizard Creek. The Community Tent will be representatives from Friends of Crum Creek. This weekend’s kids’ activity will be making Juneteenth Spin Drums and is presented by members of the Wesley AME Church. \nThe Swarthmore College OneCard is accepted at most vendor stands and PA FMNP vouchers are accepted for fresh fruits and vegetables.

DESCRIPTION:Explore historic cooking and foodways with demonstrations in the newly restored 1739 Trimble House Kitchen and the reconstructed Bake Oven behind the Miller’s House. Participants will experiment with various ingredients\, techniques\, and historic recipes. \nEach program will have a different theme – this season\, we’re exploring topics related to the ongoing archaeological excavations around the Trimble House complex in coordination with our Public Archaeology program! \n2025 Kitchen Encounters: \n– April 19 – Butter & Cheese – inspired by the excavation of a dairy addition on the Trimble barn site\n– May 17 – Cornmeal – inspired by the Trimble corn crib ruins\n– June 28 – Ices\, Creams\, & Jellies – inspired by the Trimble icehouse ruins\n– September 6 – Tea Time – inspired by tea service artifacts that have been excavated onsite\n– October 18 – Beer Brewing – inspired by the extant Trimble brewhouse & the Trimble malthouse ruins\n– November 15 – Sausage Making – inspired by the later use of the Trimble brewhouse as a smokehouse for an abattoir that operated out of the original Trimble House kitchen
