This program’s guide\, Forest Knight\, is one of Tyler’s Lead Educators.  \nThe program is best suited for elementary school-aged children accompanied by an adult. Family and siblings of any age are welcome. Check in at the Visitor Center\, where you’ll meet your guide. As with any walk at Tyler\, sturdy shoes are suggested. PLEASE NOTE: Strollers may not be ideal on some of our trails. We recommend a carrier if you plan to bring an infant or young child. Weather or other factors may adjust the day’s topic\, but nature will always shine through! In case of inclement weather\, the tour will move indoors. \nMEMBERS:  FREE \nNON-MEMBERS: $18 per adult; $10 per child ages 3-17; children two and under are free and do not need to be registered. Admission is included in your price\, so feel free to stay the day! \nPre-registration required.

DESCRIPTION:Join the Haverford Township Free Library for an afternoon with historical interpreter\, Noah Lewis who presents the life and times of Edward “Ned” Hector\, a black soldier who fought in the American Revolution for the Continental Army for the cause of American Independence.  Ned Hector served as a teamster (a wagon driver) and a bombardier (part of an artillery crew) with the state militia called Proctor’s Third Pennsylvania Artillery\, which by the end of 1777 became the Fourth Continental Artillery.  The known battles he participated in are the Battle of Brandywine (September 11\, 1777) and Germantown (October 4\, 1777) \nNoah’s presentation is participatory and is suited for children (3rd grade and up)\, teens\, and adults.  No registration is required.
