DESCRIPTION:Adults and teens ages 15-17\, discover sweeping views along the 2.2-mile Painter Trail. Named for the Painter brothers\, who once owned this land\, the trail offers memorable views of the Arboretum and the scenic Rocky Run. The route winds through open meadows and quiet woodlands\, with two easy stream crossings and several steep hills that make it one of Tyler’s more challenging hikes. \nWhat to Expect: \n\nA 2.2-mile loop with moderate to steep hills\nOpen meadows\, shaded woodlands\, and varied terrain\nTwo easy stream crossings\nViews of Rocky Run and the surrounding landscape\n\nPlease wear sturdy hiking boots for confident footing and bring water and snacks to keep your energy up. Hiking poles for extra support on rocky paths are recommended. \nPre-registration is required. Check in at the Visitor Center\, where you’ll meet your guide. This moderately paced tour covers 2.2 miles\, with changes in grade and walking surfaces\, including pavement\, grass\, gravel\, and rocky trails. \nMEMBERS (don’t forget to sign in to your account!):  FREE \nNON-MEMBERS: $18 per adult; $10 per teen (ages 15-17). Admission is included in your price\, so feel free to stay for the day! \nGUEST PASS HOLDERS (for non-members only):  FREE. Each month\, head outdoors to discover a different seasonal theme\, searching for plants\, animals\, and other natural wonders that bring the Arboretum to life. Using simple tools like magnifying glasses or binoculars\, take a closer look at your discoveries. \nEach child will receive a Tyler journal to document discoveries\, with time at the end to reflect\, draw\, or write about what we’ve found. Bring your journal to future Family Explorers tours to capture all the amazing moments of the season. \nThis tour’s guide\, Barbara Frank\, is a PA Master Naturalist\, a Tyler-trained docent\, a yoga teacher\, an artist\, and a true lover of nature in all of its manifestations. She leads tours for children and adults. \nThis program is best suited for elementary school children accompanied by adults; however\, families and siblings of all ages are welcome. Check in at the Visitor Center\, where you’ll meet your guide. As with any walk on the Tyler trails\, sturdy shoes are suggested. A registered adult must accompany any child ages 17 and under. \nMEMBERS: FREE (Remember to sign into your member account before continuing for your discounts) \nNON-MEMBERS:$18 per adult\, $10 per child ages 3-17; children ages two and under are free and do not need to register. The non-member fee includes admission\, so please feel free to stay for the day! \nGUEST PASS HOLDERS: For non-members only.
