SUMMARY:Ned Hector – Black Revolutionary War Hero
DESCRIPTION:Join the Haverford Township Free Library for an afternoon with historical interpreter\, Noah Lewis who presents the life and times of Edward “Ned” Hector\, a black soldier who fought in the American Revolution for the Continental Army for the cause of American Independence.  Ned Hector served as a teamster (a wagon driver) and a bombardier (part of an artillery crew) with the state militia called Proctor’s Third Pennsylvania Artillery\, which by the end of 1777 became the Fourth Continental Artillery.  The known battles he participated in are the Battle of Brandywine (September 11\, 1777) and Germantown (October 4\, 1777) \nNoah’s presentation is participatory and is suited for children (3rd grade and up)\, teens\, and adults.  No registration is required.
