Join the Marshall Steam Museum at Auburn Heights for a day of hands-on learning! Best suited for homeschool families with children in grades 1 – 5, this interactive day brings history, engineering and nature to life.
Admission for this special event is $25/participating child (grades 1 – 5) and includes grade-specific activities, entry into the Marshall Steam Museum & Auburn Valley State Park’s Marshall Mansion, and train rides! Adults or non-participating children are $15 and infants are free. Families who have children outside the recommended grade range are still welcome to come along as non-participants!
Enjoy “open house style” wandering between engaging stations and activities including a visit to Auburn Valley State Parks’s Marshall Mansion, a hunt for simple machines inside the 1897 Victorian house, and discovery of early local industries, including mills, with steam-power demonstrations. Inside the Marshall Steam Museum, participants can design and build their own vehicle using recycled materials, inspired by early automotive engineering. Outdoors they can enjoy rides on the Auburn Valley Railroad, stop by an outdoor activity table for information and fun, or take a walk along paved park trails past historic structures and sites.
Advance registration is required, with a registration deadline of Monday, May 12. All children must be accompanied by an adult. Picnic tables are available for participants to eat a bagged lunch outside, but there are no food sales on-site.
