Public Archaeology

Spend some time with the archaeology team at Newlin Grist Mill. The archaeological program explores the history and development of this historic mill site, while enhancing public knowledge and providing opportunities for the public to participate in the archaeological process. Excavations are conducted under the leadership of resident archaeologist Keith Doms with assistance from members of the Society for Pennsylvania Archaeology and volunteers from the community. Individuals and groups throughout the region volunteer one Saturday per month assisting with excavations and artifact cleaning. The project is bringing to light new evidence that reshapes earlier perceptions. Free and open to all ages.
