Memorial Day Observance and Education Session
May 24 @ 11:00 am - 1:00 pm
The Historical Society of Montgomery County will hold a special Memorial Day tribute with a family-friendly educational component. Wreaths will be placed at the monuments of soldiers and veterans laid to rest at Historic Montgomery Cemetery. The observance will feature traditional volley fire and stirring bagpipe performances. Families are especially welcome, as children will have the opportunity to participate in an engaging educational activity led by archivist Erica Slason. Young participants will follow clues throughout the cemetery to discover the true significance of Memorial Day.
Cemetery gates will be open with parking available on site. Comfortable walking shoes are recommended for exploring the historic grounds. Come be part of this meaningful tradition to honor the legacy of service and sacrifice in the local community.
