German settlers brought many skills and folkways to southeastern Pennsylvania in the colonial era. One of these abilities was the production of rifles. As with other European technology brought to America, gun smiths adapted rifles to meet conditions. Learn how smiths produced rifled guns and how the rifle evolved from a short-barreled heavy gun used by hunters and gamekeepers (jaegers) employed by noblemen in parts of Europe, into the long-barreled weapon suited to the American environment. Geared for ages 12 and up; suggested donation is $2.
