Bluebird Nesting Box Tour at Tyler Arboretum

Families can explore Tyler Arboretum’s succession field and discover the interesting lives of Eastern Bluebirds during this engaging nature walk. For over 50 years, dedicated volunteers have cared for these iconic birds by monitoring their nesting boxes—and now visitors can join in the experience!

During this family-friendly adventure, participants will get up close to bluebird boxes and witness nature in action. They’ll have the opportunity to spot brilliant bluebirds, discover active nests with delicate eggs, and possibly even see fuzzy nestlings waiting to be fed. The walk also provides valuable information about cavity-nesting birds and conservation efforts.

Participants should check in at the Visitor Center upon arrival, then meet their guide on the Visitor Center patio by 9:30 am. The tour will take place on grassy fields, so closed-toe shoes and bug spray are recommended. Please note that strollers are not ideal for this terrain—a carrier is suggested for very young children.
