Step back in time 200 years and experience the rural history of the Hay Creek Valley & the Joanna Furnace Iron Works at the 46th annual Hay Creek Festival. Held the weekend of September 9–11, 2022, families will enjoy this one-of-a-kind living history experience on the 26-acre Joanna Furnace ironmaking plantation. Visitors will see demonstrations of early American crafts and trades, open fire cooking and beehive baking presentations, antique engines, tractors and cars, plus sawmill, threshing and shingle mill demonstrations. Hands-on activities for children include completing our Day at Joanna chores list and an archaeology adventure activity. There will also be early American and folk music throughout the day, food vendors including kettle-made soups, apple cider, and a craft market featuring handmade goods and wares, and antiques.
