I feel so honored to be able to write a nomination for Joelle McFaddin and Functional Fit Home Organizers. The experience that I have had with Joelle has truly transformed my life. When I met Joelle, I was a retired physician who had an earlier brutal cancer, and then several years later I developed breast cancer as well. I had had seven breast surgeries, and during the middle of my cancer, my husband and I had split. My home during this crisis had become almost unlivable, and I was embarrassed to let anyone into my home. I finally realized that I needed help. With this state of mind, I was overwhelmed, and I was even uncomfortable letting Joelle into my home. But when she saw the disaster my home had become, she never once made me feel embarrassed. She just very kindly started helping me with each area where I desperately needed help. Room after room, closet after cabinet, we tackled each together, and my home transformed into a place that I now love and am proud of again. There are no words to fully communicate how much Joelle transformed my home and my life. Having her help and the company of such a kind, patient, beautiful soul who listened to me when I needed it most literally gave me back a life that had reached a point of not knowing how I would get back to the person that I had been before my cancer. I found that with each visit, Joelle’s energy was infectious, and I felt myself getting back the energy that I had lost. Although my cancer continues, I am now back to the person who had been volunteering for years and contributing to the field that I loved, and I am once again so proud of my home and have welcomed back the company of my friends and family. And still, if I need help with an area that has deteriorated a bit, or if I discover another area that I just cannot do on my own, Joelle has come back once again with her energy but also with her kindness, and I feel so lucky that I have Joelle in my life. She is the epitome of a woman filled with love and compassion (and talent!), and again, it is an absolute privilege being able to nominate Joelle McFaddin for the Main Line Parent Love Award.
