Celebrate Dr. Seuss and Read Across America Day Around the Main Line

On March 2, we celebrate the birthday of beloved children’s author Dr. Seuss as Read Across America Day, established by the National Education Association as an annual program to motivate kids to read and recognizes the role reading plays in development and community. Here’s where to celebrate!

‘Seussical Jr.’ at Ss. Colman-John Neumann School

March 1—3

Join the fun as SCJN students bring beloved Dr. Seuss characters to life in “Seussical Jr.” Tickets will be available at the door: $8 for adults, $5 for kids.

Cat in the Hat Storytime at Lulu’s Casita

Storywalk at Ashbridge Park Grand Opening

March 2, 10:30—11:30 am

Ashbridge Park Playground, 1301 W. Montgomery Avenue, Rosemont

 

Attend the ribbon cutting for this unique mix of literacy skills and outdoor activity for preschoolers. Travel the StoryWalk, read the inaugural book The Not So Quiet Library, and meet its author Zachariah Ohora!

Read Across America Day at Elmwood Park Zoo

March 2, 11 am—2 pm

1661 Harding Blvd., Norristown

 

EPZ is celebrating with animal greets, live readings in English and Spanish, a book fair, and a special character appearance from Super Why. Plus, celebrated kids’ author Jerry Spinelli will make an appearance from noon—1:15 pm. The zoo is also collecting books for a book drive through March 8.

Dr. Seuss’s Birthday Party at Uno Pizzeria and Grill

March 2, 11:30 am—2:30 pm

8 N. Pottstown Pike, Exton

 

For $9.99 per child, you get to make your own pizza, kids drink, create-your-own sundae, creative food-related crafts, fun photo ops, games, and best of all the Cat in the Hat will be there reading Dr. Seuss books throughout the event! 11:30 am seating; call 610-280-4555 to reserve your spot.

This entertaining and educational performance is based on the works of Dr. Seuss and other children’s authors and includes magic, props, and audience participation. Registration required.
