Sacred Heart Academy Bryn Mawr, Fostering Curious Minds

Learn more about how this international, independent Catholic school has been creating confident women for more than 150 years.

Lower School students at Sacred Heart Academy Bryn Mawr, start each day by walking through a set of bold red doors–symbols of the love, wonder, friendship, and support offered to each student. In many ways that entrance reminds the young students of the confident young women, the school has nurtured for more than 150 years.

Sacred Heart Academy Bryn Mawr is an international, independent Catholic school for girls in kindergarten through twelfth grade. Founded in 1865, the school, rich in French heritage, is dedicated to encouraging curiosity among its students. With a curious mind, Sacred Heart Bryn Mawr believes, comes discovery, creativity, and confidence.

When asked about the school’s approach, Director of Communications and parent to two Sacred Heart Academy alumnae, Lisa Brairton, said, “The girls are enveloped in a learning-rich environment that’s loving and academically rigorous. They are excited to learn and to share what they’ve learned with each other.”

Dedicated and experienced, teachers invest in each girl – learning her interests, understanding her unique qualities, and guiding her curious mind. Small class sizes and one-on-one instruction contribute to the success of the student and the development of the whole girl.

Learning, guidance, and mentoring expand beyond the classroom, providing opportunities to explore creative arts, music, and sports. Unique offerings open to the Lower School girls include karate, ukulele, STEAM and Engineering Clubs and Irish dance.

Leadership, mentorship, and understanding are fostered in programs like “Primes, a weekly ceremony during which selected students read from their journals, discuss current events, and share their academic successes, while developing public speaking skills. There’s also “Big and Little Sisters,” in which girls in different grades are paired together to study, socialize, and encourage one another.

“Both the classes and the enrichment activities are set up to help girls realize community has great value, love comes in many forms, and being confident will lead to answers,” said Brairton.

Sacred Heart Academy Bryn Mawr is creating a seamless connection between the learning going on inside and outside the classroom. This results in a girl who loves to learn, has compassion towards others, keeps an open mind, and does it all with confidence, a strong mind and a brave heart.

Best decision sending our daughter here. Loving- caring- devoted teachers. Our girl is now a risk taker, independent thinker and her self confidence has soared to new heights due to this small- nurturing atmosphere. She cries if school is closed and wants to attend on the weekends. Highly – highly recommend.
Truly the best choice for any girl!
