Jean volunteers and advocates tirelessly on behalf of children and young adults with food allergies. She is the local chapter head of FEAST, a support group for parents and caregivers of those who have been diagnosed and cope with life-threatening allergies. She serves as a liaison to national organizations, medical providers, and educational institutions. She also educates the local community on this critical topic and its societal impacts. She is kind, empathetic, approachable, dedicated, and a lifeline for many families who are impacted.

What is a favorite quote that inspires you?

How do you find balance?

I don’t try to “do it all”. Sometimes, the dishes stay in the sink and the clothes are on the floor. Sometimes, dinner is cereal.  Sometimes, I don’t make that parent meeting or go to that networking event. Sometimes, I forego that business opportunity. Sometimes, I decline that invitation or postpone that lunch.  Many times, I ask for help and/or apologize. Oftentimes, I take a nap!

If you could go back in time, what is some parenting advice would you give yourself the day your first child was born?

You are going to mess up—in many small ways, and in some big ways too. And it’s okay.
