Make something and make a difference with this summer charitable program.

It’s officially July, and you are now scrambling to find activities to keep your kids from slipping into the I’m-Bored Zone at hyper-speed. Thankfully this summer there is a family-friendly activity on tap in our area that now only gets kids out of the house and into their creative groove, but benefits one of the Philadelphia-area’s great charities, Philabundance.

Help contribute funds to Philabundance’s hunger-relief programs — systems that during the summer help feed school-age children who receive school-meal programs when class is in session — by participating in the Family Keepsakes 4 Kids project.

“Summer is a tough month for families in our region as well as for the hunger relief organizations trying to keep up with the ever increasing demand,” said Bill Clark, president and executive director of Philabundance. “A family of four with two school-aged children who participate in the school meals program need to provide 40 more meals every month this summer which adds $110 to $125 to the monthly grocery bill, which is just not feasible for many families across the Delaware Valley.”

Simply visit a local participating pottery studio through August 24, create an amazing work of art for your family to enjoy, and know that proceeds from your day out are helping children in your community.
