Monday, June 11

Summer Reading Club begins today at the Radnor Memorial Library. The first 250 children to sign up will receive a free Dream Big bag! Report your books weekly, and enter to win a raffle prize. Preschool children who listen to 15 books receive a free book, and elementary school children receive a free book for every five chapter books or 10 picture books read.
It’s Zoo Day at the Herrs Factory, with a petting zoo presented by What Knott Farm and Peaceable Kingdom Petting Zoo, along with educational programs. 

Tuesday, June 12

Exton Square Mall’s Free Kids’ Klub event takes place today with “Go! Go! Go! Have Fitness Fun” with Lolly Hopwood & The Let’s Play Today Bunch. Pick up your Kids’ Klub membership tag when you sign in, and receive mall discounts for shopping and food.
The Rock ‘N’ Roar Concert Series at the Philadelphia Zoo kicks off with a live performance by Ernie & Neal on Impala Lawn. Free with zoo admission.

Wednesday, June 13

If you’re a fan of the novel Ulysses, take your child to the Rosenbach Museum for a 30-minute theatrical adaptation as a puppet show by Drama of Works. Free with museum admission.

It’s Kid’s Day at Painting With A Twist for children ages 7 and older. Bring your favorite snacks and beverages (no alcohol on Kid’s Day!). Today you’ll be painting a personalized name sign.

Thursday, June 14

Celebrate Flag Day at the home of the lady who sewed the first American flag, Betsy Ross! National Flag Week celebrations will take place all week, but today will be the official Flag Day Ceremony featuring a military band and a naturalization ceremony where 13 foreign-born people will be sworn in as citizens of the USA.

It’s your chance to be a part of the Guiness World Book of Records as Sahara Sam’s Oasis Indoor Water Park attempts to set a new world record with the World’s Largest Swimming Lesson. Help spread the word that swimming lessons save lives. 

Friday, June 15

FreePlay on the Parkway is free and open to everyone, with an interactive water exploration by Fairmount Waterworks that is designed to encourage creativity and community. This type of exhibit is a prototype for flexible design concepts that will make use of underutilized spaces in the city.

Learn about the planets and stars in our night sky from a real astronomer from the Franklin Institute at the Radnor Memorial Library. Suitable for school-aged children. 

It’s the Summer Reading Kick-Off Party for the Paoli Library! Enjoy story time, songs, crafts, and play time with the whole family, and learn about what the library has to offer for the whole summer. Event takes place at the Paoli Firehouse.

Saturday, June 16

The Plymouth Meeting Mall has two great family events today. Learn about big cats and other carnivores at a touchable exhibit from Elmwood Park Zoo, plus take home a free funpack. Or you can take Dad out for some early Father’s Day fun at One Crazy Fan to visit DeMeco Ryans in his first official appearance as a Philadelphia Eagles linebacker.

Tee off to a great Father’s Day weekend at Festival at Exton Shopping Center with golf competitions, refreshments, discounts, and giveaways, all hosted by Golf Etc. at Exton.

The Chester County Balloon Festival boasts 20 hot air balloons in attendance, plus vendors, food, live music, and lots of fun activities for the whole family. Fireworks are scheduled for tonight and advanced reservations are taken for one-hour hot air balloon rides. Climb in the basket and check off an item from Dad’s bucket list this weekend!

Pottery Barn Kids and Kiwi Crate invite you to a Father’s Day crafting event that will spark your child’s creativity and curiosity. Kids will make a “stained glass” frame that will make a great gift for the special guy in their lives. Contact your local store to RSVP.

Do you spend hours playing Angry Birds on your phone? Join the Radnor Memorial Library for a live action take on the popular mobile app game at their Angry Birds Tournament!

Sunday, June 17

Ride aboard a train pulled by a full size Thomas the Tank Engine at the Strasburg Railroad! The Day Out With Thomas event gives children and grown-ups the opportunity to ride with the classic storybook friend at heritage railroads nationwide. 

The American Helicopter Museum invites families to Father Fest with helicopter rides, an antique car show, food, tours, and music for the whole family.

It’s Donuts for Dads at Color Me Mine in Wayne, where dads will enjoy free studio time all day along with a treat of coffee and donuts. Stop in before June 12 if you want to paint something in the studio for a present!

Take Dad to the Please Touch Museum to see Peter Taney & the Juggernaut String Band for their interactive blend of folk, world, dance, and sing-a-long music. 

The Brandywine Zoo is wild about Dads! Take the dad in your life out for a day of fun with their loved ones for dad’s day activities and live animal presentations.
