Main Line Family Fun for the Week of February 27, 2012

“Thirty days hath September, April, June, and November. All the rest have 31, save February, who’s missing some.” Celebrate Leap Day on Wednesday with a game of Leap Frog with your little ones, or simply celebrate the extra day with one of these fun activities. 

Monday, February 27

Start your week off right, and swing over to The Children’s Boutique for Music Monkey Jungle‘s song and dance performance at 10:30 am.

The Artist just won the Oscar for Best Picture, so catch it while it’s playing today (or any time this week) at the Bryn Mawr Film Institute.

Tuesday, February 28

Conestoga High School presents Titanic The Musical, and today they invite the public to view a performance along with the township’s middle school students. This is a unique opportunity to expose young children to musical theater without interfering with evening routines and bedtime.

Storybook Musical Theater presents Aladdin at Mitchell Performing Arts Center from today until March 11.

Montgomery Early Learning Center invites parents to a workshop entitled, Learning Through Play: Teaching Your Infant About the World Around Him. RSVP to Traci at 610-617-4550, x3032.

Wednesday, February 29

Tiny Tots at the Academy of Natural Science is a program for children ages 3-4 to learn about nature through songs, stories, and museum exploration. This week’s theme is Extreme Animals.

The weather may be mild, but it’s not spring yet, so head over to St. Agnes in West Chester while they’re offering Open Gym play time for children ages 6 and younger from 1-2:30 pm. (You do not need to be a member.)

Thursday March 1

Join Springfield Mall’s Giggle Gang, an interactive club for parents and children ages 1-5 for entertainment by local puppeteer Steve Ruzansky.

Pack your bags! Tredyffrin Public Library invites children in grades 1-5 to explore the history and culture of the 50 states through stories, music, and crafts.

Friday, March 2

Soccer Shots invites the Main Line Parent community to a trial soccer class for children ages 3-6 at Competitive Edge Sports at 11 am. Please respond here, all equipment is provided.

An appearance by The Cat in the Hat to celebrate Dr Suess’s birthday at the Please Touch Museum is a great way to honor one of America’s most beloved authors on Read Across America Day.

Celebrate Read Across America Day & Dr. Seuss’s Birthday at Pottery Barn Kids, from today until March 4, with story times and activities in honor of the author’s imagination.

You can always count on something unique from Swarthmore’s Creative Living Room on First Fridays, and this week’s Pillows & Pajamas story time is Favorite Pets & Meet A Vet.

Saturday, March 3

The Junior League of Philadelphia presents its first annual American Girl Fashion Show, a fun-filled afternoon for girls and their families. The Fashion Show will take place today and Sunday, featuring local girls modeling the current fashions from American Girl.

Kumon Math & Reading Center of Bryn Mawr invites the Main Line Parent community to their Open House to benefit Reading Is Fundamental. Enjoy read aloud sessions, games, and refreshments and learn how Kumon can help your child succeed in the classroom and beyond.

The Colonial Theater in Phoenixville presents their most popular performer, John Cassidy the Balloon Freak!

Children ages 6-12 are invited to “enlist” in the Continental Army at Valley Forge National Park. Participants will be “mustered-in” to the Continental Army by receiving enlistment papers and copies of Continental currency.
