The Silverspoon Wayne made its way onto my radar via Twitter last summer. Scanning the latest tweets from the region, I took note of their four-course tasting menu from France to celebrate Bastille Day (which also happens to be my hubby’s birthday.) We decided to give them a try and were pleased with our meal, the service and their patience with our 9 month-old daughter, who gobbled down the French cuisine with glee (especially the cheese). A few months later when I was looking for a host for a Mom’s Night Out, they delighted a dozen moms with their flavors, presentation and service, and more recently when they hosted a Main Line Parent Social, we brought the fabulous Brittany Ostrov to capture their culinary delights.

The Silverspoon is a great spot for a family meal or a date night. Every Wednesday they take diners on a “World Tour” where they sample culinary delights from four different parts of the wold in four courses for $35 per person. Diners receive stamps in their Silverspoon “passports” every time they dine on a Wednesday night for the world tour and after four visits, the fifth is free!

This Week’s Menu will Celebrate the “Fall” Harvest in South America.

Specifically, diners will be tasting the fabulous cuisine of Peru, a glorious fusion of Inca, Spanish, Japanese, Chinese, and Austro-Bavarian styles but utilizing native Pacific and Andean ingredients. Silverspoon Owners Ruth & Rich and Executive Chef Ron Silverberg have been raving about Peruvian cuisine since their first trip there in 1992, and, of course, its all the rage now in in the states. The recipes for this meal were brought back from their many trips.

First Stop is Cuzco high in the Andes Mountains for Beef Anticuchos: Tender Marinated Steak Kabobs with Rice-Bean Cake and Savory Red Onion Salsa
Second Stop is the Beach Town of Punta Sal for Ocean-Caught Ceviche with Corn, Sweet Pepper and Lime Salad
Third Stop is Miraflores, Lima to try Pollo ala Brasa; Open-Flame Seasoned Chicken Served with Peruvian Fried Potatoes and Chimichurri Sauce
Dessert takes us to Arequippa in the South for Mango Ice Cream and Alfajores (Shortbread Cookies and Caramel Sauce)

The Silverspoon sources their ingredients locally from sustainable resources, has many gluten-free menu options, and is also a BYOB with no corkage fee, so if you’re making it a date night you can swing by the Devon Wine & Spirits store just up the road (821 W. Lancaster Ave. Wayne, PA) and you’re set!
